Tuesday 5/24/2008: Cleveland's Wilson out for 5-6 weeks CLEVELAND - Detroit's Joakim Soria drilled Cleveland's first baseman Vance Wilson in the 7th inning. He was slow getting up and had to leave the game. Vance Wilson will miss at least 5-6 weeks. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Broken Finger. Surgery will be performed next week. Vance has gone 40 for 161 (.248) this season, hitting 8 homeruns and driving in 27 runs. He has scored 24 runs on his own. Monday 5/23/2008: Cabrera and Vidro win Player of the Week award It's the 8th time that the American League Player of the Week award goes to Detroit's first baseman Miguel Cabrera. He had an on base percentage of .520 and hit .520, while driving in 10 runs. Jose Vidro from Colorado wins his 6th Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the National League. He hit .600 with 9 RBI and slugged 1.000 in 20 at bats. Jose managed to drive in at least one run in every game he played this week. His season numbers are: .287 AVG, 46 hits, 11 doubles, no triples and 8 taters, along with 32 RBI and 36 runs scored. Wednesday 5/18/2008: Chicago (N)'s Aramis Ramirez ropes six hits MILWAUKEE - 'Wow, six hits in one game is something special, isn't it?' said Chicago (N)'s third baseman Aramis Ramirez after the 21-0 win over Milwaukee. In the 1st inning he belted a RBI double off Scott Kazmir. Number 2 in the 2nd inning accounted for a two-run double. Number 4 in the 7th inning accounted for a RBI double. A double off Lance Broadway in the 8th inning accounted for his 5th hit. He had singles in the 5th inning and in the 9th inning . Aramis did drive in 4 while scoring 3 runs on his own. He now has a total of 41 hits this season, accounting for a .261 batting average. Wednesday 5/18/2008: Pittsburgh's Billy Butler mashes five hits SAN FRANCISCO - Billy Butler saw the ball really well, leading Pittsburgh to a 11-9 win over San Francisco. His five hits thrilled his teammates and coaches, and Billy seemed happy as well after the game. His 1st hit, a solo homerun off Kelvim Escobar in the 2nd inning, landed an estimated 325 feet from home plate. In the 5th inning he belted a two-run double off Kelvim Escobar. Number 5 in the 8th inning accounted for a double. He collected singles in the 4th inning and in the 6th (one RBI). Billy scored one run, and he collected 4 RBI as well! He is hitting .253 this season, with 3 HR and 23 RBI. Wednesday 5/18/2008: Kansas City's Anderson out for 7-8 weeks KANSAS CITY - Kansas City's players were scared when they had to watch Garret Anderson suffer a serious injury when he dove for a ball in the game against Tampa Bay. He collapsed in pain and was helped off the field. Anderson will probaby miss 7-8 weeks. After being taken to a local hospital, Anderson was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Broken Wrist. His season numbers are: .358 AVG, 38 hits, 5 doubles, 2 triples and 9 taters, along with 29 RBI and 23 runs scored. Wednesday 5/18/2008: Delvin James out for 7 weeks TORONTO - When it rains, it pours. Toronto's right-hander Delvin James will not pitch for at least 7 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Los Angeles (A) where he left the field in the 6th inning. Toronto wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that James had suffered a Ruptured Elbow Ligament. Opposing players hit .278 against Delvin this season. While posting an ERA of 5.85 he went 2-3 in 9 starts, fanning 28 and walking 36 hitters.
