Braves 8/7
Braves fans, going into the week, for the season they have a record of 63 and 31. Currently the East Leading Phillies were 74 and 20. On the week the Braves went eight and two, bringing their record to 71 and 33 and the Phillies went eight and two climbing to 82 and 22. leaving the Braves 11 games behind.
This past week to finish out July the Braves started it 3 and one. That gave them a record of 19 and 5 for the month. The Gem of the early part of the week was the 1 to nuttin win over the Marlins. Dickey got the win and Valverde picked up his 26th save.
As the Braves transitioned into the dog hot sweaty balls of August, the went 5 and one with the loss to the horrid Pirates. One can only imagine after the 11 to 1 pounding they gave the pirates, they went out to the strip clubs with Ben R of the Steelers and forgot they had a 2 pm game and didn’t leave the club till daybreak and showed up drunk to play the Pirates,
While the Braves didn’t get any shutouts, they did hold the Pirates to one run in three of the four games in their series. Against Flroida they gave up, none, one and 3 runs in the three game sweep.
Prior to that series was a two game sweep of the Senators.
