Team owner Jamieson has announced that the Savannah Bananas will be the Pirates A ball minor league affiliate moving forward. "We had such a good outcome from a short training experience with them 3 years ago that we though that A ball should be the place where you learn the fundamentals but also practicing having fun playing the game. Obviously, AA will be more a more formal business setting but these kids coming up today want fun in the work place. I know, fun work is an oxymoron but we want to meet today's youth where they can be so that they can be our leaders tomorrow."
The Bananas announced that 2009 opening day will be a completely immersive Pirate experience. We aren't sure what that will look like, but we suggest putting your wallet on a chain. The future looks bright and with Kenny Powers at the ML level and the Savannah Bananas as the A Ball bookend, the future looks fun, too.
