Hoffbl end of April NL:
We’ve come to a close on the first month of the HOFFBL 2009 season and so far this is what we know.
Out in the NL west the DBacks are freaking on fire and have won 9 of their last 10, and are only a game behind from the best record in Baseball. Last season they were one of the best teams, but this season they have the G man, Paul on the roster how is hitting .333 with an .896 OPS. The are leading the league in runs scored, and when you score the most runs in a game, it is a recipe for a win. Never once have we seen a team lose when they score the most. Their pitching is also pretty good, being in the top 10 in everything. The Giants are trying to make some noise, but currently seem destine to play second fiddle to the DBacks this season.
St Louis is looking to defend their crown from last season and add another pennant. The look to be doing it akin the Braves Ring formula, pitching first, as they are preventing teams from scoring. And backing it up with a better than avg offence. Third in the league in homers, they are scoring runs while stopping the opposing team from doing the same. Chicago is currently 2nd in the Central, will they be able to turn it on and challenge the Cards or be the Wild Card?
The Phillies are looking to get another ring, and are again leading the league in wins. They are again doing it with pitching and batting, and are the complet package yet again this season. 3rd in runs scored and first in runs allowed, they are the toast of the league. The Braves have the forth best record in the NL and are four games back, but again they are just a shell compared to the Phillies and really don’t look to pose any threat to stopping the Phillies from defending their East crown.
Currently the Braves have a one game lead over the Giants for the Wild card with the Cubs just two back.
