Apologies to any fans that expected this yesterday. I had it all written and hit post and it disappeared. I promptly closed the laptop and put it away. The Contraction Draft reinvigorated us, here is the delayed version of the minor league report.
#1
Dexter Fowler continues to thrive in AAA, waiting for the phone to ring. He is hitting .343 with 17 HR. The fan base is waiting anxiously for his call up.
#2
Mark Trumbo has smashed 24 HR already and has 78 RBIs, in AAA. He has developed 1 poin in walks and strikeouts but has some work to do as he is closing in on 100 k's, with 85.
#3
Zach Kroenke's duration fell but has been corrected. Zach continues to hunt for his first ML career, sitting on a 0-12 record and a 7.54 ERA. He hasn't pitched terribly as of late but the offense continues to struggle during his starts, scoring 2 runs or less in 7 of his last 10 starts.
#4
Lorenzo Cain moves up the top 10 list as he continues to develop. All 5 of his tools are above average and he looks to be a solid big leaguer in the next couple seasons. He could really make the Pirate OF dazzle with a talent bump over the next couple seasons.
#5
Andy Dirks suffered an injury to put him out for a couple weeks but continues to develop into a solid big league contributor. With a little like he could pop, letting Trumbo take up first base full time.
#6
Elliott Johnson will officially move to the leadoff spot for today's sim. Let's see how the experiment goes. Johnson's average dropped over the last sim but is still above .200 and trending in the right direction.
#7
Mike Broadway has been really good through his first 15 ML innings, sporting a 2.35 ERA and has brought some consistency to the bullpen.
#8
SP Pat McCoy is a recent recipient of a talent upgrade and fans are expecting his average talent rating to be boosted soon. All signs are pointing to him being the first indication that focus has turned to the next gen of development. The team is very excited after the expansion draft with TB SP and #5 spec Nick Tepesch joining the AA squad.
#9
CL Zach Britton has developed nicely and is waiting for an emergency at the ML level or next year, whichever comes first. The Pirates are antsy to get the big lefty into the bullpen but the bullpen has settled down for the most part, and Kenny Powers doesn't want to disrupt it.
#10
An interesting development as Isaac Galloway gets on the radar with a talent increase. With nothing more to offer at the moment outside of an above average bat, we aren't sure we will make the point investment at this time.
Honorable Mention
Nick Tepesch isn't great on paper but the Pirates see some potential in him. The 5'4 240 lb just has to put his wait behind his pitches and his velocity will skyrocket. With his consistency, we think he can develop into an ace.
