Braves 7/13
July is still the time of year now Braves fans, to continue coming back to the ballpark Lets look at the week in review
This week the games went like this:
7/6 The week started in Chi town to take on the Cubs. Bud Smith got the go coming out of the all star break and he looked good, only allowing a run on three hits. Braves batters put two into the cheap seats and that was enough to propel them to a four to one win. Reyes had two steals and Sanchez one for them to remain number one and two in the NL on the base paths.
7/7 Game two of the Cubs series didn’t go as planned, Rupe only gave up two hits and the cubs scored two runs off of them and the Cubs edged out the Braves two to one. While the Braves got eight hits, they just couldn’t bring anyone home other than Rabe the one time. Reyes did get another steal but was left stranded.
7/8 Back home in Atlanta the Mets came to town. Smoltz took the mound and he picked up his 9th win of the season pitching 8 innings and only giving up 2 runs. Boone parked one for a dinger, and Sanchez picked up a steal on the basepaths. The attendance was 64987 at Atlanta - Fulton County Coliseum and the weather was Clear skies, 80 degrees, wind blowing left to right at 15 mph.
7/9 Game two of the Mets series in Atlanta, RA Dickey went to work and pitched well enough to pick up his 8th win, and is now 8 and 2 on the season. He gave up 3 runs, but the Braves bats scored 11 for an easy rout of the Mets. Braves only hit one into the cheap seasts and Sanchez picked up his 43 steal. The attendance was 64952 at Atlanta - Fulton County Coliseum. and the weather was Partly cloudy, 81 degrees, with the wind blowing right to left at 9 mph.
7/10 Last game of the Mets series and the Braves were going for the SWEEP! Atlanta sent Roach to the mound and he went nine innings giving up 4 runs, 3 earned, and got a no decision as the game went into the 10th inning. Braves scored in the bottom of the 10th to get the win 5 to 4. The Braves went five for 6 in victimizing the Mets Catcher. The attendance was 64968 at Atlanta - Fulton County Coliseum, and the weather was Clear skies, 74 degrees, wind blowing in from right at 10 mph.
7/12 After a day off the Braves were facing the Dodgers at home and Bud Smith again was on the mound. He pitched all 9 and got the win for his 13th of the season.
For the week the Braves went five and one, and the Phillies were 5 and 1, and the Braves are FIVE up on them in the East now. The Braves have been doing quite well since the first two weeks of the season, and now are 3rd in the NL in runs scored, and 3rd in the league for ERA. For the Month of July the Braves are now 5 and 1 which was pretty good.
