Braves 7/31
July is still the time of year now Braves fans, to continue coming back to the ballpark Lets look at the week in review once again.
This week the games went like this:
7/28 Game four at home against the Brew Crew and the Braves had brooms in their eyes, hoping for the four game sweep. Rupe took the mound and never left. He pitched amazingly in the 2nd, 3rd, the 6th thru the 9th inning. The others though, he gave up 5 runs and that bats just did not rally this time. Sanchez put one into the cheap seats for his 16th dinger, and Reyes got his 55th steal. The attendance was 61728 at Atlanta - Fulton County Coliseum, and the weather was partly cloudy, 69 degrees, with the wind blowing left to right at 15 mph.
7/29 On the heals of losing to the Brewers, Atlanta headed out of town to take on the Pirates. Smoltz took the mound and while he gave up two runs, only one was earned. Smoltz with the win climbed to 12 and 5 on the season. Braves batters hit two, two run blasts to power them to four of their eight runs. On the Basepaths, the runners were only 66.7% as they got four in 6 attempts.
7/30 With this being a short week, the final game of the week was game two of the two game series vs the Pirates. RA Dickey took the mound and he only gave up two runs over his 8 innings of works. Thankfully that was enough as the Brave batters scored a run in the 5th, 6th and 8th inning to have a 1 run lead headed to the bottom of the 9th where Valverde got his 34th save.
For the week the Braves went two and 1, and the Phillies were 3 and oh, and the Braves are FIVE up on them in the East now. The Braves have been doing quite well since the first two weeks of the season, and now are 3rd in the NL in runs scored, and 3rd in the league for ERA. For the Month of July the Braves are now 18 and 5 which is pretty good.
