Atlanta Contraction Draft Review:
Well Atlanta struck gold getting one of the few true great pitchers available in the contraction draft. Skipper admits there were a few players he had higher on his list, but was thrilled to see that Rich Harden was still there as he was on Skips short list. Rich will be 28 next season and is just the kind of stud the Braves need to keep the ball rollin in Hot Lanta after Pedro Martinez’ injury has seen him to have had his last days in Atlanta.
With Smoltz Bound and determined to come back at the age of 43 next season, this give Atlanta 4 legit 16+ game winners.
In the second round the Braves were lucky and Brett Myers was still hanging around. The kid is young and reminds a lot of people of RA Dickey / Jim Abbot / Tom Glavine from what Leo Mazzone has been saying. We all know Tom and Jim were able to get 20 win seasons.
