Braves 10/3
October is still the time of year Braves fans, to continue coming back to the ballpark! Let us look at the week in review once again.
10/1 In a high-scoring game, the Atlanta Braves emerged victorious against the Pittsburgh Pirates with a final score of 11-4. The Braves' offense exploded with 11 runs on 11 hits, securing the win. Key offensive contributors for the Braves included Boone, Sanchez, Green, and Barker. Green hit a home run in the seventh inning, and Barker delivered a three-run homer in the ninth inning. Sanchez showcased his speed with two stolen bases, contributing to the Braves' aggressive baserunning. On the pitching side, RA Dickey earned the win for the Braves for his 20th of the season, pitching 6.2 innings and allowing four runs. Carter closed the game with 2.1 scoreless innings to secure the save.
10/2 In a thrilling matchup between the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies, the Braves emerged victorious with a slim 3-2 lead. The contest unfolded with a series of pivotal moments that showcased the teams' offensive prowess and pitching prowess. The Braves wasted no time making their mark in the first inning, orchestrating a three-run surge that set the tone for the game. Cedeno became the catalyst, delivering a crucial double that drove in two runs and gave Atlanta an early advantage. Then Perez added to the Braves' lead with a timely RBI bringing Cedeno home. Pitching proved to be a key factor in this matchup. White took the mound for the Braves, displaying a solid performance by pitching 6.1 innings and allowing only 2 runs. His efforts earned him the win, contributing significantly to the Braves' success. In the latter part of the game, Valverde entered as the closer and secured his 50th save of the season. Valverde is just the second pitcher to have two 50 save season, with of course Brave legend Doug Corbett the only one to do it 3 times.
With the 119th win in 163 games, the Braves edged out the Phillies for the East crown. With it this is the 29th NL East Pennant the Skipper has brought the Braves in his 31 seasons as GM / Coach.
