After a disappointing 2008 season, the Cardinals made multiple moves to secure a World Series Championship in 2009. Let's look at deals that pushed the Cardinals over the top.
KC Sends: OF Anderson (Majors)
STL Sends: 2010 2nd round pick TBA Scrub
This trade allowed STL to secure an elite OF lead off hitter. Anderson was crucial to the Cardinals lineup batting .309 with an OBP of nearly 400 from the leadoff spot. Anderson also performed in the playoffs slashing .323.
STL sends Of Guillen 30points Mr R. Wooten 2010 3rd Round pick
for
C Schneider
The catching spot for the Cardinals in 2008 was terrible. The cardinals went out and got a stud. Brian Schneider delivered securing a gold glove and MVP slashing .308 27hrs 114 rbis and 92 runs scored.
SF sends Alex S. "Gonzo" Gonzalez, Shortstop
Stl sends 2010 1st Ryan Budde, Catcher, 29 yrs
The cardinals needed to upgrade from the terrible Bo Hart starting in the middle infield. Cardinals sent a 1st round pick to acquire the Veteran SS who delivered hugely for the Cardinals. Gonzo slashed .317 with an OBP of .384.
Twins send SP Brian Rose to the Cardinals for 10 points and MR Stinson (scrub)
This trade was important to replace the hurt arroyo to avoid my 4 aces to starting too many games and being unable to pitch in the Playoffs.
StL sends CF Pat Burrell
Clev sends MR Jason Jimenez, 1B Vance Wilson, LF Josh Hamilton
This trade allowed some breathing room in the financials and added much needed depth to team. This trade helped secure the Cardinals World Series hopes.
