Seattle's third baseman Adrian Beltre had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the American League Player of the Week. Beltre helped his team with an average of .500 and 13 RBI in 26 at bats. His season numbers are: .372 AVG, 32 hits, 7 doubles, no triples and 5 bombs, along with 23 RBI and 19 runs scored. He's 8th in the American League in batting and 2nd in RBI! The National League's best player of the week was Atlanta's Rich Harden, who wins the award for the 1st time in his career. Harden was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 0.00. Along the way he struck out 18 in 17.1 innings. He hurled a shutout as well. Rich has a record of 4-0 this season, with an ERA of 0.44. In 41.1 Innings he was able to strike out 43 batters. Rich has pitched 2 shutouts and 2 complete games. He's 1st in the National League in ERA and 2nd in wins!
Sunday 4/24/2010: David Freese out for 5-6 weeks
LOS ANGELES (N) - Los Angeles (N)'s David Freese suffered a serious injury Sunday in a game against Colorado. Freese fell down while running the bases and couldn't get up without help. He will miss probably 5-6 weeks. Pulled Achilles Tendon was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. While compiling an on base percentage of .161, David hit .133 and slugged .233. He has collected 3 runs batted in this year.
Wednesday 4/20/2010: Ubaldo Jimenez pitches 2-hit shutout against Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE - Miami's right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Milwaukee on just 2 hits. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 7th time he has done it in his career. 'My catcher called a very good game. I have to give credit to him.' Jimenez (3-0) struck out 5 and issued 2 BB, throwing 66 of 103 pitches for strikes. Miami's rightfielder Ryan Braun got 3 hits in 5 AB, with 3 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Jimenez. Miami improved its record to 12-5, scoring 10 runs on 14 hits.
Wednesday 4/20/2010: Toronto's Prior severely injured
TORONTO - Toronto's right-hander Mark Prior suffered a severe injury on Wednesday and will be out for at least 4-5 weeks. In the 5th of the game against Seattle he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. Doctors examined him after the game and diagnosed a Strained Elbow Ligament which will require surgery. This season Prior compiled an ERA of 2.08, going 2-0 in 4 starts. He fanned 28 while giving up 16 hits in 30.1 innings.

LOS ANGELES (N) - Los Angeles (N)'s Brian Roberts suffered a serious injury Tuesday in a game against Arizona. Roberts fell down while running the bases and couldn't get up without help. He will miss probably 5 weeks. Los Angeles (N) wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Roberts had suffered a Inflamed Posterior Cruciate Ligament. While compiling an on base percentage of .309, Brian hit .242 and slugged .419. He has collected 12 runs batted in this year.
