May into June is the time of year now Braves fans, to continue coming back to the ballpark Lets look at the week in review once again.
May 25, Atlanta to travel to Pittsburgh. Bud Smith was on the mound facing Wade for the Pirates. Atlanta scored in the top of the second two more in the top of the eighth and that’s how the score ended three to nothing. But when 8 2/3 inning, only allowing four hits Out seven to improve his record to five and two on the season. Varity came in and got the save for his tent on the season. Sanchez got a homer, his eighth season and the second inning for the solo shot.
May 26, another game with the Braves against the Pirates. Roop on the mound for the Braves, going against white for the Pirates. Atlanta jumped on the Pirates in the top of the second going up to nothing, added one run, and the top third another one on the top of the fourth be up four to nothing. Pirates rallied in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit Four to one, however, in the top of the eighth, the Braves added one. The single run that the Pirates scored in the bottom of the eighth was not enough of the rally, and the Braves won 5 to 2. Roop went six innings for the win giving up one run to finally get to 500 on the season at five and five. Valveri came out and got the save his 11th of the season. The Braves For home runs two by sedan, one by Sanchez and another one by Aida.
May 27, Braves were looking for a sweep, but they did not get it. Smoltz took the mound to face. Pittsburgh jumped on Smoltz in the bottom of the first going up one nothing Braves tied at top of the fourth however, the pirates scored two more in the bottom. Another two in the bottom of the fifth and that’s how it ended five to one. Smoltz dropped to 5 to 4 on the season. After looking in the early part of the season now he’s starting to look average.
May 28, the fourth game of the Atlanta Pittsburgh series had Harden facing Asencio for the Pirates. Braves scored one run in the top of the fourth. That’s how the ball game ended one to nothing was a hell of a pitcher dual. Ascencio only gave up one run and the 7/3 innings he was in, however, he’s now Oh and nine on the season . Harden went 8 2/3 innings got his 11th win on the season, and variety came in and got the save for his 12th.
May 29 Miami came to Atlanta. Gymnast took the mount for the Marlins and Bud Smith was on the mound for the Braves. Nobody scored 36 innings. Bottom of the seventh Braves took a lead however they surrounded surrender it it through the eighth and ninth innings to be down two to one. Bottom of the ninth Braves tied it up. Send it into extra innings. And then went back to a dual. Finally in the top of the 14th. Marlins scored to run and the Braves were not able to answer. Dick took the last giving up a run and his one inning of pitching. 64,985 fans came out to Atlanta Fulton county stadium to watch the game 15 more people would’ve been out. It was clear skies with the wind blowing left to right at 8 mph and a cool 62° to watch the Braves lose.
May 30, Ruth was on the mound for the Braves Wang on the mound for the Marlins. Top of the third Marlins scored first that was it for the Marlins scoring bottom of the seventh Braves tied up 11 bottom of the eighth. They exploded for six runs. Got the win for sixth of the season now six and five on the season. after losing the night before only 57,811 fan showed up at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium on the very fine night of a 70° partly cloudy with the wind, blowing out the center at 11 miles an hour.
May 31, Miami still in Atlanta. Smokes on the mound for the Braves Kashmir on the mound for the Marlins. Miami jumped out on Smoltz one nothing on the top of the first Braves batters were able to rally in the bottom tied up 11 and the second and then the fourth they went up two to one. Unfortunately for smalls there was an honor and run and it was tied up to two in the ninth inning. He got a no decision after going a third inning. Braves scored and bottom 10th to win 3 to 2. Valveri got the win and is now five and two on the season. Attendance was 56,513 at Atlanta Fulton county Stadium. Weather was clear skies wind blowing out to Center at 12 miles an hour and the temp was 65°.
June 1, final game of the week had Atlanta in Philadelphia. Harden was on the mound for the Braves and Thompson was on the mound for the Phillies. Harden was in his normal south giving up five runs in his seven innings of pitching. However, he did get the win and is now 12 and oh on the season. Val got the same for 13th of the season. This one was wild one with the final score being 8 to 5 and it being tied 55 after six innings. The eight runs the Braves scored. Two of them were unearned.
On the week, the braves went 6 and 2 on the week and are now 37 and 18 on the season.
