BALTIMORE - Baltimore is without its right-hander Tony J. Armas for at least 5-6 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Jeff Keppinger in a game against Kansas City. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Doctors examined him after the game and diagnosed a Pulled Rotator Cuff Muscle which will require surgery. In 14 starts this year Tony J. struck out 65 batters in 84 innings of work. His ERA is 4.18, his record 5-3.
Wednesday 6/15/2010: Felipe Lopez (CHN) will miss 4 weeks
CHICAGO (N) - Chicago (N)'s shortstop Felipe Lopez hurt himself in the 8th inning while making a routine throw to first base. He experienced serious pain and had to leave the game. Felipe Lopez will miss at least 4 weeks. Pulled Bicep Tendon was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. This year Lopez drove in 37 and scored 31 runs while batting .240 with 11 homeruns.
Wednesday 6/15/2010: A.J. Burnett shuts out Toronto on one hit
SEATTLE - Seattle's right-hander A.J. Burnett is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Toronto found out the hard way, getting just one hit. Burnett 1st shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 14th shutouts in his career. Evan Longoria spoiled the bid for a no-hitter when he singled with one out in the 8th inning. 'Today I just felt fine. I had a good feeling while warming up.' Burnett (7-3) fanned 7 and walked 1, throwing 107 pitches. The hitting star for Seattle was catcher Mike Sweeney, he stroked 3 hits in 4 AB, stroking a double, and driving in 2 runs. Seattle scored 4 runs on 9 hits.
Tuesday 6/14/2010: Dan Haren (NYM) will miss 5 weeks
NEW YORK (N) - New York (N)'s right-hander Dan Haren suffered a severe injury on Tuesday and will be out for at least 5 weeks. In the 1st of the game against Chicago (N) he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. New York (N) wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Haren had suffered a Bone Chips Shoulder. This season Haren compiled an ERA of 4.00, going 6-8 in 15 starts. He fanned 45 while giving up 95 hits in 99 innings. He has 3 complete games and one shutout.
Monday 6/13/2010: Victor Alvarez out for 6 weeks
BOSTON - Boston's lefty Victor Alvarez suffered a severe injury on Monday and will be out for at least 6 weeks. In the 4th of the game against Houston he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. Boston wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Alvarez had suffered a Pulled Tricep Muscle. Victor has a record of 9-1 this season, with an ERA of 1.61. In 106.1 Innings he was able to strike out 127 batters. Victor has pitched one shutout and one complete game. He's 4th in the American League in ERA and 5th in wins!
Monday 6/13/2010: Atlanta's Harden wins Player of the Week award
Cleveland's third baseman Ryan Zimmerman had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the American League Player of the Week. Ryan was on fire, hitting .478 with 4 HR and 11 RBI. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 8 game hitting streak right now. Rich Harden of Atlanta wins his 2nd Player of the Week award for dominating National League's hitters the entire week. Harden was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 0.00. Along the way he struck out 12 in 17 innings. He hurled a shutout as well.
Sunday 6/12/2010: Carlos Gonzalez (CLE) will miss 8 weeks
CLEVELAND - Being hit with a pitch is no fun at all. Especially when you get injured. Cleveland's second baseman Carlos Gonzalez will miss about 8 weeks after being hit by Michael Tejera in the 7th inning of the game between Cleveland and New York (A). Fractured Cheekbone was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. While compiling an on base percentage of .332, Carlos hit .292 and slugged .388. He has collected 19 runs batted in this year.

CHICAGO (A) - Chicago (A)'s right-hander Scott T. Baker is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Seattle on just 2 hits. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 4th time he has done it in his career. Baker (6-2) was overpowering, fanning 10 while walking 2, throwing 118 pitches. 'I didn't feel that I had good stuff while warming up. But it got better the more I threw the ball. I guess I was lucky.' Kendrys Morales provided Chicago (A) with the offense Baker needed as he collected 1 hit in 3 trips to the plate, homering once. The final score of the game was 1-0.
