Braves 6/24
June is the time of year now Braves fans, to continue coming back to the ballpark Lets look at the week in review once again.
June 17 Arizona in Atlanta as Perez for the Diamondbacks takes on route for the Braves. I’m back scored first and top of the third and the Braves answered with three in the bottom of the third. Diamondback scored a run and the top of the fifth and top of the sixth to tie the game up. Bottom of the eighth the Braves got to go ahead run and Valveri trotted out to pitch the ninth inning to pick up his 18th saved the season. Roop got the win and is now seven and seven on the season. Attendance was 63,015 at Alanta Fulton County Stadium with clear skies and 78°. It was beautiful night with the wind blowing out right at 8 miles an hour. This was his first game back and he got his 28th stolen base along with steals by Sanchez Guerrero, Sedeno and Perez.
June 18, San Diego in town to play the Braves. Smoltz on the bound for the Braves and Kim on the mound for the Padres. Atlanta jumped out to two nothing lead in the bottom of the third, and had another run in the bottom of the fourth. This was after San Diego took an early lead scoring one in the top of the first but then they only added another run in the top of the six and that was all the scoring for the Padres. Smoltz picked up the win for his eighth on the season, and now he has just one game away from 500 wins. Valveri came on got the save for his 19th of the season. Rays got us 29th stolen base and Jennings added another one. The attendance was 61,739 fans enjoying the clear skies the cool 72° and the winds blowing left to right at 10 miles an hour at Atlanta Fulton county Stadium .
June 19 game two of the three game series against the Padres. Day, also on the mound for the Padres going against Harden for the Braves. I scored early picking up two runs in the bottom of the second and added a third run and the bottom of the fifth Harden gave way to Hanan and then district line after 7 2/3 innings only giving up three hits. He picked up the win for his 15th of the year. Braves won eight to nothing. The Braves collected four stolen bases, including two by Sedeno. The attendance was 60,437 enjoying the clear skies and 67° . The wind was blowing out to San at 10 miles an hour. And that was all they wrote from Atlanta Fulton County Stadium.
June 20 game three of the San Diego series. Atlanta was looking for the sweep. Bud Smith was on mound for the Braves going against Rodriguez for the Padres. The Braves scored in the first third fourth fifth and eighth inning. Bud Smith picked up a complete game shut out going the distance only allowing five hits. He is now eight and four on the season. The Braves hit three homers one by Guerro and two bio. Ray picked up his 30th stolen base as the Braves picked up three stolen bases in the game. The three game sweep was complete with the Braves winning 10 to nothing. The Braves collected 10 runs on seven hits . The attendance at Atlanta Fulton county Stadium was 56,535 fans and join the game with the weather conditions being partly cloudy wind blowing right to left at 13 mph and a cool 73°.
June 22, Atlanta Trant, travel to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals. Roop was on the mound for the Braves Perez was on the mound for the Cardinals. Atlanta struck first and the top of the third scoring two runs, then added two more on the top of the seventh to take a 4 to 2 L four to nothing lead, the Cardinals rallied and scored two in the bottom of the eighth which caused skipper put in Valverde and he came on shut out the Cardinals in the top of the ninth to get his 20th save three bases, including Reyes who got his 31st on the season. Braves won 4 to 2.
June 23 Atlanta versus the Cardinals. Smoltz was going for the Braves against villain waiver for the Cardinals. Champagne had to be kept on ice as smolts just was not up to the task and gave up four runs over 7 2/3 innings. The Braves tried to rally scoring and the fifth sixth and ninth inning, but they just could not, pull it out for Smoltz. He is still stuck on 499 career wins. Braves lost 5 to 3.
On the week, the braves went 5 and 1 on the week and are now 48 and 26 on the season.
