Monday 7/11/2010: Toronto's Wilson severely injured
TORONTO - Being hit with a pitch is no fun at all. Especially when you get injured. Toronto's shortstop Jack Wilson will miss about 4-5 weeks after being hit by Jonathan Broxton in the 9th inning of the game between Toronto and Baltimore. Wilson was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Broken Finger. He has hit no taters while batting .247 this season. His 65 hits and 31 walks add up to a .337 on-base percentage.

TORONTO - Toronto's right-hander Delvin James will not pitch again this year, suffering a serious injury in the game against Baltimore on Monday. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Torn Bicep Muscle. Opposing players hit .260 against Delvin this season. While posting an ERA of 4.24 he went 7-5 in 18 starts, fanning 74 and walking 52 hitters.
Monday 7/11/2010: Taveras (DET) and Burroughs (ARZ) win P.O.W. award
Detroit's centerfielder Willy Taveras had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the American League Player of the Week. Willy pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .609 with 1 HR and 8 RBI while slugging .957. He has hit 8 taters while batting .297 this season. His 105 hits and 34 walks add up to a .357 on-base percentage. Sean Burroughs from Arizona wins his 3rd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the National League. Sean was on fire, hitting .458 with 4 HR and 9 RBI. Sean managed to drive in at least one run in every game he played this week. He now has homered in 3 consecutive games as well! Burroughs has walked 22 times this year and posts a .391 OBP. While batting .332, 107 for 322, he has driven in 76 runs. He's 1st in the National League in batting, 1st in homeruns and 1st in RBI!
Thursday 7/7/2010: It's NO-NO time for Gio Gonzalez against St. Louis
PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia's southpaw Gio Gonzalez made some history today, firing a no-hitter against St. Louis. Their hitters found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, never having a chance against his overpowering stuff. Freddie Freeman spoiled the bid for a perfect game when he walked with no outs in the 5th inning. 'I felt early that I was on top of my game. Fortunately I was able to keep that feeling the entire game.' Gonzalez (10-3) fanned 6 and walked 4, throwing 130 pitches. Wilmer Flores provided Philadelphia with the offense Gonzalez needed as he got 1 hit in 3 AB, doubling once. Philadelphia improved its record to 59-25, scoring 1 run on 5 hits.
Wednesday 7/6/2010: Dexter Fowler out for 5 weeks
PITTSBURGH - Being hit with a pitch is no fun at all. Especially when you get injured. Pittsburgh's centerfielder Dexter Fowler will miss about 5 weeks after being hit by Charlie A. Morton in the 3rd inning of the game between Pittsburgh and Chicago (N). Fowler was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays.
