Braves 7/12
July is the time of year now Braves fans, to continue coming back to the ballpark Lets look at the week in review once again.
July 5, Atlanta versus the Dodgers. On the mound for the Braves was Rich Harden on the mound for the Dodgers was Paulino. Braves got going early scoring six runs in the top of the first jumping out to a huge lead. Dodgers tacked on one in the bottom of the third Braves tacked on one in the top of the sixth Dodgers tacked on one in the bottom of the seventh and that was all the Dodgers could muster. a meaningless run by the Braves and top of the ninth finish the scoring the Braves won 8 to 2 giving Harden his 18th win on the season . Braves only hit one homer and it was in the ninth inning by a good arrow. Sedano picked up two stolen bases and red Terita got another one. In the 7 2/3 innings that Harden pitched he picked up 12 Kay’s.
July 6 game two of the Atlanta dodger series. Bud Smith was on the mound for Atlanta. Dempster was on the mound for the Dodgers. Atlanta jumped out to one nothing weed in the top of the first then added five more in the top of the second another one on top of third another one on top of the fourth, and we’re up eight to nothing in a blink of an eye, they added two more in the top of the sixth and wasn’t the bottom of the seventh but the Dodgers finally put a run on the board. The Braves added another one the top of the ninth to cruise to an easy 11 to one win they scored 11 runs on 12 hits. For the Braves smacked out two homers both of them being solo shots. Bud Smith went the distance getting the complete game, allowing only one run on three hits and one will strike out five. He improved to 10 and five on the season.
July 7, game, three of the four game series between the Dodgers and the Braves. Ryan Roop for the Braves was pitching against Kennedy for the Dodgers. Braves against scored early one on the top of the first with additional four in the top of the second and another one on the top of the third to take an early six to nothing lead, they added runs in the sixth and eighth inning two to extend it to eight nothing. Bottom of the ninth the Dodgers broke up groups shot for a complete game shut out. Braves didn’t hit any home runs however, rays had three stolen bases for his 38th Steele of the season , all total, the Braves had six stolen bases and seven attempts.
July 8, the final game of the Braves Dodgers for game series. John Smoltz was on the mound for the Braves. Kershaw was on the mound for the Dodgers. Smoltz did not look good at all, giving up eight earn runs in 4 1/3 innings. This was the bloodbath payback for what the Braves had been doing to the Dodgers the previous three games. Sanchez hit a home run and Sanchez and Sedano each had a stolen base. Those were the only highlights. Braves lost 8 to 3.
July 9 Atlanta traveled from Los Angeles up to the bay to take on the Giants. Dickie was on the mound for the Braves Lynn was on the mound for the Giants. This was a dual from start to finish. Braves got on top one nothing at the top of the first San Fran rally and tied it up in the bottom of the third. It stayed that way till the top of the seventh when the Braves scored two runs, and that was the final score 3 to 1. Rays hit a two run blast in the seventh for the go ahead run. The Braves also picked up two stolen bases in the game.
July 10 came two of the giant Braves series. Harden was on the mound for the Braves going against Santana for the Giants. It was a scoreless game going into the top of the fourth when the Braves finally scored a run to go up one. They tacked on another run and the top of the sixth. The Giants tried to rally and scored a run in the bottom of the eighth but that’s how it ended two to one Braves. Harden for the Braves picked up his 19th win of the season. Valverde came on and got the save his 23rd of the season. Guero had a homer for the Braves. It was a solo shot in the fourth. And Reyes picked up his 39th stolen base of the season.
July 11, third game of the Braves Giants series. Bud Smith was facing for the Giants. But Smith was on his game and only allowed one earned run over nine innings striking out nine improving to 11 five on the season. San Sanchez for the Braves hit the shot and the sixth thinning. The Braves nickel and dime the Giants man managing to put up one run in five different innings for a final 5 to 1.
July 12, the final four game series against the Giants. Root for the Braves were on the bound against Kane for the Giants. This was a pitcher dual as both teams were knotted 2 to 2 at the end of regulation, and went extra innings and it wasn’t until the top of the 14th but the Braves managed to score another run to secure a 3 to 2 win. Reyes has had three stolen bases to now put them back in as the league leader with 42. Ojeda had his 15th homer and the seventh inning.
On the week, the braves went 7 and 1 on the week and are now 60 and 29 on the season.
