July is the time of year now Braves fans, to continue coming back to the ballpark Lets look at the week in review once again.
July 20 game two of the Philadelphia Atlanta series. Ben sheets on mound for the Phillies hard on the mountain for the Braves. As one would expect this was a phenomenal pitching duel. Each starting pitcher only gave up of run. And after nine innings, it was tied one to one. The Braves got a run in the bottom of the 10th to break the tie and take the win two to one. Harden went 8 2/3 inning got no decision and struck out 11. There were 61,700 130 fans on hand at Atlanta Folden county Stadium to witness this pitching dual temperature wasn’t nice 80° at game time with clear skies and wind blowing left to right at 8 miles an hour.
July 21, the final game of the three game series between the Braves and the Phillies. Bud Smith was on the mound going against Cole Hammel for the Phillies. This one started off tight, but in the bottom of the third braves finally scored a run, then tacked another one on in the bottom of the fourth two more in the bottom of the fifth to jump out to Ford and nothing lead. The Phillies rallied in the top of the sixth top of the eighth to cut the lead to 4 to 2, but then the Braves tacked on two in the bottom of the eighth to expand it to 6 to 2. Strickland came on to try and just close out the game And got tag for three runs in the top of the ninth. Valverde came in and got the final out to save the game. The Braves swept the Phillies. 61,725 pounds were on hand out Atlanta folding county Stadium to witness this miraculous sweep. The weather again was 80° at gametime with clear skies and winds blowing right at 11 miles an hour.
July 22, Atlanta, taking on Miami for the first time in Miami this season. Ryan Roop was on the mound for the Braves going against Wang for the Marlins. Neither starting pitcher did very well. Wayne gave up seven runs five earned and route gave up six runs. The final was 7 to 6. Sanchez, Green and Ojeda all hit Home runs in the game and Reyes picked up his 47th stolen base. This game went into extra innings as it was tied 77 after nine and then it went into the mini pitching duel there. Nobody scored in the ninth 10th 11th or 12th innings but finally the Braves knocked you in in the top of the 13th to get the win 9 to 7.
July 23, are Dickie was on the mound for the Braves going against Kazmir for the Marlins. This was one of the greatest pitching duels there were this season. The Braves finally scored a run in the top of the seventh and Miami tied it back up in the bottom of the seventh. It was 11 and stayed that way till the 11th inning. The Braves Tattoo on an extra innings and walked away with the win 3 to 1. Dickie went nine innings only allowing two hits and two walks, and one run with seven Kay’s. Sadly, that was not enough to win the game.
July 24, the Cubs come to town to take on the Braves. James, for the Cubs was going to get Smoltz for the Braves. John was on his game and almost went the distance. But after Aiden and third innings, he gave Wade Valverde who came on to get the save. John improved to 11 and eight on the season. Valveri picked up his 26. Ray has got two stolen bases in the game to increase his total to 49 stolen bases on the season. Edgar Renteria showed a little power collecting his second homer of the season in the game. Attendance was 64,965 at Folden county Stadium clear skies with the wind blowing left right at 17 miles an hour With a comfortable 78° temperature
July 25, game two of the Chicago Atlanta series. Morton was on the mound for the Cubs Harden on the mound for the Braves. Once again, Harden was in a pitching and once again he pitched great enough to win, however got no decision. Game was tied up after, the eighth inning when the Braves scored their second run to tied up 2 to 2 and bottom of the 10th. They scored a run to get the win. Attendance was 59,136 at Atlanta Fulton county Stadium game time temperature was 82° partly cloudy with the wind blowing left or right at 9 miles an hour.
July 26, final game of the three game series between the Cubs and Braves. Fairytales always come to the clothes Bud Smith play pitcher hell of a game going nine innings, and only allowing to earn runs, but the defense failed him as the Braves committed three errors, allowing two earned runs. Chicago won 4 to 3.
On the week, the braves went 6 and 1 on the week and are now 71 and 31 on the season.
