Braves 8/15
August is still the time of year Braves fans, to continue coming back to the ballpark Lets look at the week in review once again.
August 8, the final game of the three game series between the Rockies and the Braves. Smoltz was on the mound for the Braves was on the mound for the Rockies. Braves, Joe star, sucking at this point got swept by the Rockies. and Atlanta try to win the game start off one nothing and the top of the first but then Smoltz gave up a run in the bottom of the second. Top of the fourth Braves scored a run but small gave up another run in the bottom. Still tied, then bottom of the sixth Rocky scored again and it was over. Braves bats just could not keep up with what Smoltz was allowing the other team to score. Reyes got a stolen base for his NL leading total to 61. Smoltz trapped to 13 and nine on the season.
August 9, Braves at home against the Reds. And for the fourth game in a row, the Braves got their asses handed to them. Harden on the mound, never loses, but he did today. Now, 21 and two on the season. The Braves bats just were fucking on their shoulders and didn’t even do shit today. Only two hits on the entire day. That was even with the Reds committing to ear errors. What can you do some days. Reds won two to nothing. Sadly 62,364 Braves fans were on hand to see the Braves do shit. The weather at Atlanta Fulton county Stadium was 68° at game time partly cloudy, and wind blowing left, right at 9 miles an hour.
August 10, game two of the Braves/Reds series. Bud Smith was on the mound for the Braves going against Bowington for the Reds. Going into the game Bud Smith has not given up a run in at least 17 consecutive innings. Braves struck first got two runs in the bottom first then Piled onto two more in the bottom of the second to make it pretty sure then another two runs the bottom of fifth. It looked like the Braves were gonna run away with this and they did because Buzz Smith was on fire. Braves tacked on another three runs in the bottom of the eighth and that was the final nine to nothing. Reyes, Sedano, Jennings, and Boone all had stolen bases. Jenny had to though to get to 16 on the season. Bud Smith got the complete game shut out and Noah has a record of 16 and six.
August 11 game three in the final game of the series against the Reds. RA Dick was on the mound for the Braves facing Sia for the Reds. The red starter didn’t even make it past the third inning and had already been smacked around. Braves were up six to one at the end of three. They added one in the top of the fourth and three more in the top of the fifth to be up 10 to one. Dick was doing a decent enough job that there was no worry and just letting him sit out there and pitch. Final score was 10 to 3 and RA Dickie went the distance. The game was in Atlanta and 63,020 people were on hand for the victory . Dick got his fourth win on the season. Homer is for the Braves were Sanchez and Lee. Sanchez hit a two grand shot in the fifth inning and then Lee hit a three run dinger. All in all the Braves had five stolen bases. On hand to watch the win were 63,020 rabbit fans rooting for the Braves and Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. the weather was 74° at game time with the wind blowing left right at 10 miles an hour.
August 13, Atlanta Inn to take on the Brewers. After four game slide Ryan Roop is on the mound try and stop it against Romero for the Brewers. The bats of Atlanta finally show some life scored two in the top of the first two in the top of the third, another one in the top of the 62 in the top of the seventh and one of the top of the eighth to go up to on an eight to nothing lead. All the Brewers could do was put one up in the bottom of the eighth and that was it. Roop went nine innings. Only giving up one earned run on two hits. This improved him to 14 and eight on the season . Reyes got two stolen bases to extend his NL lead to 64 sedan also had two stolen bases and now has 56 on the season.
August 14, game two of the Brewers series against the Braves. Harden on the mound for the Braves going against Chavez for the Brewers. Braves scored top three in the top of the third two more in the top of the third and then one on the top of the sixth one in the top of the seventh, one in the top of the fifth three in the top of the eighth two on the top of the ninth. It was a bloody bashing of the Brewers as hard and finally got some run support. He got another complete game shut out for his 2 second win of the season. Scoring 13 runs the Braves only had a single Home run. They also only had four stolen bases, including Reyes his 65th of the season.
August 15, the Braves are going for the three game sweep of the Brewers. Bud Smith for the Braves was facing black goal for the Brewers. Braves scored five in the top of the first and never looked back. Three more in the top of the second one in the top of the third, and they were up nine to nothing. Smith did not have his greatest game as he gave up one in the bottom of the fourth two in the bottom of the fifth and one in the bottom of the sixth, but that is as close as the Brewers got. With the one in the top of the ninth Was an insurance run that the Braves didn’t need however, that was the final 10 to 4. Sanchez, A, Guerrero, and Lee all had homers in the game. Sedeno and Renteria also has stolen bases.
On the week, the braves went 5 and 2 and are now 85 and 35 on the season.
