August 24, #MIN town to take on the Braves. Glover on the mound for the Mets going against Harden for the Braves. Braves jumped out too early lead scoring, one on top or bottom of the first and one on the bottom of the third, cut it to a one run lead in the Bottom of the fourth braised then added one in the six and four more in the seventh to be up seven to one. Harden gave up a run in the top of the ninth and was replaced by Strickland who gave up two more runs so the final was 7 to 4. San and Sanchez each smacked Home runs and rays picked up his 16th. Stolen base of the season. Braves had two stolen bases and had two bass runners caught. 61,095 fans came out to Atlanta Fulton county stadium to watch. The Braves win the weather was clear skies with the winds blowing left to right at 10 miles an hour and a gametime temperature of 77° .
August 25, game two of the Mets Braves series in Atlanta. Madras was on the mound for the Mets going against Smith for the Braves. Mets jumped out to an early three nothing lead in the top of the first. The Braves tied it up with a run in the third and two and the fourth. Braves jumped out to nothing in the bottom of the first added another one in the bottom of the fifth two more in the bottom of the sixth after the Mets had tied it up 33 in the top of the sixth, some insurance in the bottom of the seventh and the final was 7 to 3. August 27, the seventh Street game facing the Mets. The Mets finally were able to win one of the games. John Smoltz was on the mound for the Braves going against Cornejo for the Mets. Smoltz again did not have a very good game giving up eight runs over 5 2/3 innings. Atlanta had the initial lead won nothing but over the span of the third fourth and fifth innings it was four to one and then they scored four more in the top of the six to make it 81 Mets final score was 10 to 2. Braves managed to get two stolen bases on the game. 64,984 fans came out to Atlanta Fulton county Stadium on a partly cloudy night with the game time temperature of 76° with the wind blowing left to right at 10 miles an hour only to see the Braves get humiliated.
August 28, Atlanta traveled out to face the Cubs in Chicago. Harden was on the mound for the Braves going against rays for Chicago. Braves jumped out to three lead in the top of the first and never really looked back from there. Chicago broke up hardens bid for a complete game shut out with the one run in the bottom of the fifth and that was closest as the Cubs would get when it was three to one. Braves tacked on three more in the top of the 64 more in the top of the seventh and that is where the game would end up With the scoring 10 to one. Sanchez, Guerrero, Lee, and Green all had Home runs. Sanchez, Guerrero, Lee, Green, and Renteria all had stolen bases.
August 29, Atlanta, still in Chicago taking on the Cubs. But for the Braves on the mound going against Fister for the Cubs. Atlanta again jumped out to an early lead scoring one on the top of the first then tacking, three moron, and the top of the fourth. Chicago tried to rally scoring one in the bottom of the fifth to cut it to four to one braves went back up five to one top the six and then Chicago scored another one in the bottom six and that was the final score 5 to 2 neither team scored anything in the seventh eighth or ninth inning. Val Verde came on in the ninth and got his 35th save. Bud Smith with the wind improved 19 and six on the season.
August 30, final game of the Cubs Braves series. Ryan Roop for the Braves was on the mound facing Tolbert for the Cubs. Braves scored two on the top of the fourth and another one the top of the eighth that was all group needed as he pitched a complete game shut out. It was a 16th win of the season. Renteria hit a homer and the eighth inning Ray had his 70th stolen base Sanchez got his 60th and Lee had his 38th.
August 31 Atlanta travel to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers. John Smoltz took down for the Braves to face Paulino for the Dodgers. This was not Smoltz’s day as he got drugged giving up 10 runs in three innings pitch. His ERA skyrocketing to 4.23 on the season. Girl hit his 23rd homer of the season. And stopped the only thing that the Braves did well today the Braves lost 12 to 3.
On the week, the braves went 6 and 2 and are now 95 and 39 on the season.
