Breaking News Friday, 9/16/2010 Thursday 9/15/2010: Atlanta's Vladimir Guerrero slams five hits ARIZONA - Atlanta's first baseman Vladimir Guerrero once again displayed his tremendous ability to make contact with that little white ball. He tore up Arizona's pitching staff with a 5 hit performance on Thursday. A RBI double off Chan Ho Park in the 1st inning accounted for his 1st hit. Number 3 in the 6th inning, a shot estimated at 373 feet, cleared the wall in right field. In the 7th inning he unloaded a two-run homerun off Chan Ho Park. He collected singles in the 4th inning and in the 9th inning . Vladimir scored 3 runs, and he collected 4 RBI as well! He's having a very good season so far, batting .333. Atlanta scored 9 runs on 15 hits. Wednesday 9/14/2010: Vernon Wells out for 8 weeks COLORADO - Colorado's players were scared when they had to watch Vernon Wells suffer a serious injury when he dove for a ball in the game against Philadelphia. He collapsed in pain and was helped off the field. Wells will probaby miss 8 weeks. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Broken Wrist. This year Wells drove in 82 and scored 85 runs while batting .266 with 24 homeruns. Wednesday 9/14/2010: Ryan Freel found the stroke, smashes three homers NEW YORK (A) - Hitting a homerun is fine, but hitting three of them in one game is something special. Detroit's shortstop Ryan Freel accomplished that feat in a 28-5 win over New York (A). His 1st shot, off Josh Fogg in the 2nd inning, was a solo homerun and cleared the fence in right field. Number 2 in the 3rd inning, a shot estimated at 371 feet, cleared the wall in right field. A pitch from Neftali Feliz in the 6th inning left his bat for a GRAND SLAM, landing 447 feet from home plate in left-center. Ryan finished 4 for 5, scoring FIVE runs and collecting 6 RBI. So far this season he is batting .258 with 7 homers and 51 RBI. Monday 9/12/2010: Player of the Week honors go to Soriano and Teixeira Baltimore's second baseman Alfonso Soriano had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the American League Player of the Week. Alfonso was on fire, hitting .478 with 3 HR and 8 RBI. His season features a batting average of .284 (149 hits in 524 AB), 25 doubles, 4 triples and 32 longballs. Soriano collected 105 RBI and 93 runs as well. He's 8th in the American League in RBIs and 9th in homeruns! Mark Teixeira wins his 1st Player of the Week award. National League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Mark went 13 for 25 (.520), while hitting 3 HR and collecting 10 RBI. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 8 game hitting streak right now. Sunday 9/11/2010: San Francisco's Lincecum severely injured SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco's ace Tim Lincecum suffered a severe injury on Sunday and will be out for at least 5-6 weeks. In the 3rd of the game against Philadelphia he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Pulled Tricep Muscle. Surgery will be performed next week. Opposing players hit .195 against Tim this season. While posting an ERA of 3.91 he went 14-9 in 31 starts, fanning 195 and walking 119 hitters. Tim has pitched 2 shutouts and 4 complete games. Sunday 9/11/2010: Houston's Beckett severely injured HOUSTON - When it rains, it pours. Houston's right-hander Josh Beckett will not pitch for at least 6 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Detroit where he left the field in the 2nd inning. Houston wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Beckett had suffered a Pulled Tricep Muscle. In 25 starts this year Josh struck out 179 batters in 162 innings of work. His ERA is 3.00, his record 14-4. Josh has pitched one shutout and one complete game. Saturday 9/10/2010: Mike Pelfrey dominates Minnesota, gives up just 2 hits LOS ANGELES (A) - Los Angeles (A)'s right-hander Mike Pelfrey will never forget this day. The 26-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 2-hitter, against Minnesota on Saturday. 'Well, the ball went where I wanted it. I was able to hit the corners with all of my pitches.' Pelfrey (11-9) struck out 9 and walked 2, throwing 68 of 104 pitches for strikes. The hitting star for Los Angeles (A) was leftfielder Jeff DaVanon, he collected 3 hits in 4 trips to the plate, doubling three times, scoring twice. Los Angeles (A) scored 6 runs on 12 hits.

Monday 9/12/2010 : American League-Player of the Week: 2B Alfonso Soriano (BAL)! He batted .478 in 23 AB, with 3 HR and 8 RBI. National League-Player of the Week: 1B Mark Teixeira (SFG)! He batted .520 in 25 AB, with 3 HR and 10 RBI. Tuesday 9/13/2010 : Carlos Beltran hits a 492-foot homerun!! Wednesday 9/14/2010 : BAL: Kerry Wood pitches a 3-hit shutout against Oakland!! DET: Yasmani Grandal has 8 RBI against New York (A). DET: Ryan Freel crushes 3 homers against New York (A).

Detroit : Brian Wilson has been signed to a contract extension, $5,000,000 per year, for 4 years. Houston : Andre Ethier has been signed to a contract extension, $11,710,000 per year, for 4 years.

Kintzler and Cornejo a good 1-2
Use a first, Teoscar Hernandez or Kepler(if the offer is right) and maybe other things to find a cost effective #3 guy. Haren and Glover and fine at #4 and #5

Kintzler and Cornejo a good 1-2 Use a first, Teoscar Hernandez or Kepler(if the offer is right) and maybe other things to find a cost effective #3 guy. Haren and Glover and fine at #4 and #5 yah, or just win more and make more money and sign somebody
