Braves 9/7
September is still the time of year Braves fans, to continue coming back to the ballpark Lets look at the week in review once again.
September 1, Atlanta, facing the Dodgers and game two of four game series. Atlanta got out to an early eat lead in the top of the second going up one nothing Dodgers bounced back and scored two in the bottom of the six to take a two to one lead. Atlanta exploded on the Dodgers and the eighth inning racking up four runs and then tack on an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Final Score was 6 to 2 Braves. On the mound was Harden for the Braves facing Dempster for the Dodgers. Harden picked up his 25th win of the season. green and Jennings. Each hit homers in the game and the Braves picked up five stolen bases.
September 2, game three of the four game dodger series. Bud Smith for the Braves was on the mound facing Tucker for the Dodgers. This was a pitching. However, Bud was not on his game. The Dodgers scored in the second third and when the Braves put one on in the sixth, they scored another one in the bottom of the sixth to be up three to one. All the Braves could do is muster, one more run, and they lost 3 to 2. Picked up four stolen bases including three by sedan so that he has 61 on the season.
September 3, the final game in the four game series against the Dodgers. Ryan Roop was going against Eaton for the Dodgers. This one wasn’t close braves scored three in the top of the third two more in the top of the fourth and it didn’t get much better after that. The Dodgers scored three and the Braves tacked on three more themselves. Route went the entire nine innings getting his 17th win of the season. Aaron Boone got his third homer of the season and Sanchez picked up two stolen bases to give him 64 on the season .
September 5 the Braves traveled to Pittsburgh, Smoltz was going against the white for the Pirates. It was tight early going after two it was one to one. The Braves finally struck gold in the top of the six to open it up to four to one lead And even though the Pirates scored a run in the bottom of the seventh that’s as close as they got. Braves won 42. Smoltz went 7 2/3 innings giving up the two runs and picked up his 15th win of the season. Val Verde came on to close it out and got his 36 of the season. Sanchez and Green hit homers for the Braves. Got a stolen base and so did Ray for his 71st of the season.
September 6, game two of the pirate, brave series, had Dickie on the mound for the Braves going against Asian CEO for the Pirates. This game was all Braves other than the fact that Dickie got injured and went down in the third inning. Braves pounded the Pittsburgh pitching score 3 in the second one and the third two and the fifth one and the sixth and meaningless run in the ninth. The only run that the Pirates scored was in the sixth thinning. Sanchez and Green got homers and Reyes had three stolen bases to increase his NL lead to 74. Sanchez tacked on another stolen base for 65th of the season.
September 7 game three of the Pittsburgh Atlanta series. Atlanta was hoping to get a sweep of the series but for a change Atlanta Ace Harden did not have a great game and he got no run support out of the bats. Pittsburgh ended up taking the game four to one.the only thing the Braves did well is pick up three stolen bases. Outside of that nothing went right for them and even Harden had an error on the game giving up an unneeded run.
On the week, the braves went 4 and 2 and are now 99 and 41 on the season.
