Rocktoberfest is still the time of year Braves fans, to continue coming back to the ballpark Let’s look at the week in review once again.
September 23, the season is winding down. Had the Cubs in town as our Dickie was taking on Earhart for the Cubs. RA was on his game. Even though the Braves committed two errors, and had the same number of hits as the Cubs, they managed to eek out the victory here. There were no homers in the game, and there are no stolen bases, other than arrows his 33rd of the season. All went Aiden 2/3 innings only giving up four hits and no walks and absolutely no runs. Valverde came on to close it out after RA had let a base runner get on in the ninth. 64,993 screaming Braves fans came out to the game this Friday evening on a cool evening where the temperature was only 63° with the wind blowing right to left at 10 miles an hour and the night skies were clear. Braves won three to nothing.
September 24, game two of the two game series against the Cubs in Atlanta. Reyes for the Cubs was on the mound facing Ryan route for the Braves. Sedo and Jennings each hit homers for the Braves and Sanchez and Renteria each had a stolen base. Went the distance only giving up two runs and collecting seven Kay’s. This lowered his ERA to a flat 3.0 on the season gave him his 21st win of the year. two idiots didn’t make it to the game as the attendance was two people, shy Sell out with 64,998 people showing up out of a max capacity of 65,000. Atlanta Fulton county stadium was rocking Saturday night on a mild evening game time temperature was 71° with a 9 mile an hour breeze blowing left to right.
September 26, at Atlanta travel to Milwaukee. Recently called up picture Jorge was on the mound to face off against Hudson for the Brewers. Jorge tried to go a complete game going Aiden 2/3 innings but he got into a little bit of trouble and Valverde had to come on and close out the game. Valverde got his 39th save of the season as Jorge who has just called up, got his first win of the season. Got two stolen bases to hit the 80 stolen base mark for the season and sedan got two and got one as the Braves stole five bases, and only had one runner thrown out.
September 27, the second game of the Brewers series and final. Smalls was going against Williams for the Brewers. John Smoltz has not had a lot of good games recently and he looks like he’s on his way out after being the most dominant picture ever in the league. Tonight he had his stuff he went the distance got a complete game won the game 7 to 3 held the Brewers to just three runs. Only really made one bad pitch, and that was in the fifth inning where he gave up a homer. For the Braves Sedeno Hit a solo shot, but Iida picked up two on the game. Both were solo shots. San, Sanchez, Green, and Boone all had stolen bases.
September 28, the Cardinals came to town to take on the Braves. Myers was going for the Braves against Rose for the Cardinals. Didn’t look like it would be a pitching turned into one. Atlanta scored two in the bottom of the second and it stayed that way until the top of the seventh when the Cardinals tied it up. Both teams victimized the relievers in the ninth inning as each team scored a run and after regulation it was 33. Valverde couldn’t hold it together and he picked up his fifth loss of the season as the Cardinals won in 10. In years sell out crowd of 64,983 showed up to watch the Braves lose at Atlanta Fulton counting stadium. Sanchez got a 70th stolen base of the season and one of the few highlights of the game that was played under cloudy skies with a cool 71° and the wind blowing in from Center at a whopping 19 miles an hour.
September 29, the Reds came to town and for a second consecutive game the game went into extra innings. Shields was on the mound for the Reds going against RA Dickie for the Braves. He had it going on. He only allowed to earn runs however, the Reds tagged him for based on the errors that the defense gave up. Rez got two stolen bases for the Braves as did Carlos Lee. Green and Renteria also added stolen bases. All total the Braves had six stolen bases on the game. Valveri made up for his previous nights loss by picking up the win in the 11th inning. 64,982 fans were on hand as the Braves scored the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 11th inning. Game time temperature was a mild 66° with clear skies over Atlanta Fulton county stadium. When was blowing left to right at 9 miles an hour.
October 1, the Braves headed to Arizona to take on the Diamondbacks. Journeyman Jorge was on the mound for the Braves going against Chanel Park for the Diamondbacks. Jorge was horrendous after getting out of the first inning without issue he gave up 53 hits and seven ear runs Before he was yanked, and Harden came on and wasn’t much better as Harden gave up I run in the second and third inning. The last though was squarely George’s head. Offensively while the Braves had 12 hits, they didn’t have much to show for it as they only scored, four runs, whereas the diamondbacks had the same 12 hits and scored nine runs.
October 3, Miami came to Atlanta. The second to last game of the regular season had web for the Marlins going against Myers for the Braves. This one involve more bats than pictures. Myers for the brave got the win, going 5 1/third innings giving up five runs, however the Braves batters were able to Keep him from losing. Val Verity came on and got his 40th save as the Braves won 9 to 5. Web for the Marlins dropped to eight and 12 on the season and really has no shot of getting his 20th wind. 64,992 fans were on hand, just eight shy of a sellout at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. Sean Green and Eric Serina both had homers. However, Renteria was a two run shot. Renteria and Jennings also had stolen bases in the game.
On the week, the braves went 6 and 2 and are now 115 and 46 on the season.
