Jeter continues his renaissance in the month of June but the same can't be said about the young Twins lineup as they suffered a 4-game sweep to the Cubs, but they did get the chance to visit Cincinnati and Colorado. It is fun to play in the sandbox that is Coors Field, but it is not unlike Tiger Stadium frankly. Jeter went 4 for 7 in the 21-15 Twins win over the Rockies, but somehow he did not record a steal. He did though, nab 4 steals earlier in the week, which was just about what he needs to continue his pathway towards potentially two (2) stolen base records. Again, he has shown some more of his consistency (which he lacked at the end of April and beginning of May) and he has been on fire as of late. As a reminder, he had 23 steals in the first 22 team games played, 3 steals in the next 14 team games played, and now 26 steals in the past 32 games team played. In the past sim alone, he had 4 steals in 7 games, and played in all 7 games in the past sim.
Team staff once again did see some loss of patience in pre-game batting practice and simulated games, seeing him swinging at balls outside the zone more so than usual. Team staff may look to give him a day off to help improve on his patience. After all, in his age-38 season, his incredible batting talent will surely continue to slowly decrease over time, but he needs the ability to get on base via the walk to give him more chances to steal a base. Time will tell.
So, with Jeter, in his 18th, and likely, final season, he continues to be on pace to not only break the single-season stolen base record, but the all-time stolen base record as well. So, where are we now?

Average Games Played Per Season in Past 3 Seasons: 133 games
Pace times Average Games Played for an average season: 72 steals
Estimated Pace for 2012: 0.56 steals per game played

Estimated Steals: 79 steals
Quest for Chipper Jones' 2006 Record of 112 Steals
Jeter currently has 52 steals in 68 teams games played (Jeter has played in 64 of the 68 games, which represents an impressive 94% participation rate in his old age). This puts him on pace for a still absurd 124 steals in his age-38 season. As anticipated, the original 169-steal pace was expected to drop, and he is starting to normalize toward the 110-120 range. This continues to make for an interesting record watch. With 52 steals down, he is now 46% (almost half way!) the way to the 113-steal goal with 42% of the season complete. He continues to be slightly ahead of the pace, that is, having a greater percentage of the steals to goal compared to the percentage of the season played.
Current Season Pace: 52 steals in 68 games or 0.76 steals per game (a decrease of 0.03 steals per game compared to the first 61 games of the season, back to where he was last sim)
Remaining: 61 steals in 94 games remaining or 0.65 steals per game (a slight increase of 0.01 from the last check in)
Likelihood of breaking the record: estimated 25% likely, in the last week of the season (no change)
Quest for Julio Cruz's All-Time Record of 1520 Steals
Jeter currently has 1501 steals, breaking the 1500-steal barrier for only the second time ever, leaving him all but 20 steals short of breaking the all-time record.
Current Season Pace: 52 steals in 68 tames or 0.76 steals per game (a decrease of 0.03 steals per game from the last check in)
Remaining: 20 steals in 94 games or 0.21 steals per game (yet another decrease, this time by 0.03 from the last check in)
Likelihood of breaking the record: estimated 95% likely, in late July (no change)
