I am going to trim up the career leaderboard in the next few days by deleting all players who appear in the leaderboard as of this moment and were free agents at the time of Opening Day. I really should have done this before we started because we have a bug:
There are, for some reason, players who are stuck in the ERA leaderboard with 0.00 ERA and, for whatever reason, seem to trip up the order for the rest of the pitchers who belong there. Some are older free agents at the time of Opening Day, so they won't be a problem because I will simply delete them.
The problem is with Minoso and Dopson because they have already accumulated career statistics. Actually, perhaps I could not have fixed it before we started because of the fact that they have 1952 statistics. Well, it doesn't make me feel any better. In any case, I had debated deleting them and recreating them, but it would have to wait until 1954 or we could just leave them in there and hope in 5-10 seasons that they will fall off the leaderboard. I don't know if it will be a problem for Cato.
Thoughts?

I'll do what I can to clean up the leaderboards, but I will leave Minoso and Dopson alone. Hopefully Cato will be OK.

I'd like things to be as realistic as possible. I like real MLB career leaders tho.

I looked at the GABL and I forgot Matt had added the real MLB leaders in 1981ish. I should do the same thing, but it's another project for another time. I actually have to ask how exactly that was done.
So we'll see Lefty O'Doul disappear and then come back probably. Would be nice to see Babe Ruth and Cy Young up there. Again, something I wish I had done earlier. So that's 2 mistakes.
You guys are making me feel bad.
-1 points for me.

I'd actually like to see the leaderboard without guys that didn't play. Simply an accumulation of HOFFBL stats only. Even in GABL, in a lot of categories, the entire list is made up of guys that never even played in the sim. That is kind of frustrating. To me at least. Would love to treat it as if this were the first ever season of MLB.

In that case, what I am going to do this week will correct that, except for Minoso and Dopson who will have 0.00 ERA in the pitching categories for a few years. Once CATO is up, no one will really look at the OOTP career leaderboard much...I hope.

In the old BBSBL i created a shell player for each of the historical guys on the leaderboard. took a long time.

Besides: if you want to see the leaders of the era only since the start of the league, you can use CATO. So in GABL you can see both. Which is nice.

I personally just don't care to compare real vs sim. It isn't telling to me at all. Like I said above, most of the historical records will never be touched.

Neither will they be in real life but lots of people seem to take an interest in them anyway.
In GABL I currently have a player who is 3rd all time in walks and 2nd in doubles. Great stuff, if you ask me. There's an active player 5th all time in saves, 4th in strikeouts and so on. Lots of historical leaderboards are quite seriously affected by our simming in fact.
