Opening day, April 8, Atlanta travel to San Diego today on the Padres. Alvarez was on the mountain for the Braves and he never left even though he gave up three runs. Brave Scott in the top of that was enough to win the game. They had an insurance run on the third the eighth and the ninth. Reyes had a home run in the eighth inning with one on a tour run shout. Reyes, Jennings, Lee, and Lise all had stolen bases. Lee had two of them. On the game the Braves had 12 hits and three free bases in 39 at bats. Tim Perez had the best game going for 344 with a run scored and an RBI to start the season with a nice 750 batting average.
Game of the season had Atlanta still in San Diego on April 9. Ryan Roop took the mound never looked back and got a complete game shut out in his first game pitching in the season. Two hits and a pitch. Looks like San Diego grounded into two double plays because Ryan Roop only had to face 27 batters. The Braves scored one of the top of the first and that was enough to walk away with the game, but they added one the top of the third five and the top of the fourth three more in the top of the seventh as they exploded for 15 hits and four free bases on balls . Final score was Braves 10San Diego nothing.
April 10, Atlanta in San Diego. Harden was on the mountain for the Braves facing Kubler for the Padres. Cooler but his defense let down and four run spelled his doom. Both Atlanta and San Diego had three errors apiece. Harden got a complete game win one earned run. Jennings and Guerrero both had homers Jennings was a two run shot and Guerrero was a three run shot. Reyes had three stolen bases and Jennings a fourth. Final score was Atlanta 5San Diego 1
Fourth game of the season April 11, Atlanta still in San Diego. Bud Smith went out and pitch mediocre game and the Braves bats really didn’t show up today. Braves had no home runs and only one stolen base. For the season the Braves are now three and one.
April 12, San Francisco came to Atlanta for opening day in Atlanta. Carrie Woods was on the mound for the Braves. He won eight innings and only allowed to earn runs and was good enough to get him to win. Varity came on pitch one inning, locked out and got his first. Chris, and Jason both had Home. Lise was the only brave to get a stolen base. 3907 fans came out to Atlanta Fulton Stadium to see the Braves win. This was an important early season test for the Braves going against the defending World Series champions, and they took game one.

The game ended up going 12 innings and the Giants won with a run in the top of the 12th. Harden was on his game again going all nine innings to get a complete game and again only allowed one ear run. Jennings and Lee both had home runs in the game. Jennings and kittens both had two stolen bases apiece in the game, but Reyes was caught stealing so the Braves were only four for five on the base path. Scored one run in the top of the first then Miami tied up in the bottom of the second. Atlanta for the top of the third three in the top of the fourth one and top of the fifth and then a couple more insurance runs in the seventh and eighth ending to win this one walking away.
