TEXAS - When it rains, it pours. Texas' lefty Chris Capuano will not pitch for at least 9 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against New York (A) where he left the field in the 6th inning. Texas wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Capuano had suffered a Pulled Rotator Cuff Muscle. Opposing players hit .255 against Chris this season. While posting an ERA of 3.76 he went 0-2 in 4 starts, fanning 33 and walking 13 hitters.

MINNESOTA - Minnesota's right-hander Ian Snell is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Kansas City on just one hit. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 2nd time he has done it in his career. 'Well, the ball went where I wanted it. I was able to hit the corners with all of my pitches.' Snell (3-0) was overpowering, fanning 12 while walking 3, throwing 117 pitches. Minnesota's third baseman Prince Fielder got 1 hit in 4 AB, hitting a homerun, and collecting 3 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Snell. Minnesota scored 6 runs on 7 hits.
Monday 4/22/2013: Crawford and Markakis win Player of the Week award
It's the 0th time that the American League Player of the Week award goes to Carl went 11 for 28 (.393), while hitting 3 HR and collecting 9 RBI. Crawford has hit for a .379 average this season. He has 5 extra base hits along with 34 total bases, resulting in a .586 slugging percentage. He's 6th in the American League in batting! The Player of the Week award in the National League goes to New York (N)'s Nick Markakis this time, as the first baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Nick was on fire, hitting .407 with 4 HR and 11 RBI.

ARIZONA - Philadelphia's left-hander Cole Hamels is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Arizona found out the hard way, getting just one hit. Hamels 1st shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 24th shutouts in his career. 'I had a good grip on the ball today and I was able to put it where I wanted. That kept them out of balance.' Hamels (2-1) fanned 4 and walked 1, throwing 98 pitches. Philadelphia's first baseman Wilmer Flores collected 3 hits in 5 trips to the plate. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Hamels. Philadelphia scored 2 runs on 9 hits.

MINNESOTA - Detroit's hitters looked uncomfortable, and Minnesota's Cliff P. Lee didn't help them. The left-hander fired his 1st shutout of the season, a 1-hitter. Lee (1-1) struck out 5 and issued 1 BB, throwing 60 of 94 pitches for strikes. 'Hey, that's my job! Everytime I take the mound I give the best I can. And my best stuff was too much for them today.' The hitting star for Minnesota was third baseman Prince Fielder, he collected 1 hit in 4 trips to the plate, blasting a homerun, with 2 RBI. Minnesota scored 7 runs on 9 hits.
