It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 23rd time he has done it in his career. 'I was hitting my spots. Now I'll start concentrating on my next start, and hopefully it will work again.' Friday 6/7/2013: Joel Pineiro fires 2-hitter against Cincinnati
CINCINNATI - Detroit's right-hander Joel Pineiro is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Cincinnati found out the hard way, getting just 2 hits. Pineiro 4th shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 15th shutouts in his career. 'Hey, that's my job! Everytime I take the mound I give the best I can. And my best stuff was too much for them today.' Pineiro (8-1) fanned 9 and walked none, throwing 119 pitches. The hitting star for Detroit was first baseman Eric Hosmer, he collected 3 hits in 4 trips to the plate, doubling twice. Detroit scored 2 runs on 9 hits.

LOS ANGELES (A) - Great days are rare. But not for Atlanta's right-hander Rich Harden. Los Angeles (A) found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just 2 hits. It's his 4th shutout this season, and the 31st time he has done it in his career. Harden (11-1) struck out 8 and walked none, throwing 61 of 102 pitches for strikes. 'I'll have to give a lot of credit to my catcher. He put all the right fingers down today.' Desmond Jennings helped Harden at the plate, he finished 2 for 5, homering once, with 3 RBI. The final score of the game was 7-0.
Wednesday 6/5/2013: Rich Hill (PHI) will miss 7 weeks
PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia is without its left-hander Rich Hill for at least 7 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Brian Roberts in a game against Kansas City. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Pulled Bicep Muscle was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. This season Hill compiled an ERA of 3.46, going 5-4 in 11 starts. He fanned 72 while giving up 77 hits in 75.1 innings.

It's his 2nd shutout this season, and the 36th time he has done it in his career. Cornejo (6-4) was overpowering, fanning 10 while walking none, throwing 102 pitches. 'I was hitting my spots. Now I'll start concentrating on my next start, and hopefully it will work again.' Chris Davis provided New York (N) with the offense Cornejo needed as he finished 2 for 4, hitting a homerun. New York (N) scored 6 runs on 12 hits.
Wednesday 6/5/2013: Justin Masterson (BAL) will miss full season
BALTIMORE - Baltimore's right-hander Justin Masterson experienced probably the worst case scenario for a pitcher, a season ending injury. After pitching in the 3rd inning of the game against Cincinnati, Masterson complained about serious pain in his throwing arm. He had to leave the game. Baltimore wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Masterson had suffered a Torn Ligament Elbow. Justin has a record of 5-1 this season, with an ERA of 3.21. In 56 Innings he was able to strike out 40 batters.
Tuesday 6/4/2013: New York (A)'s Giancarlo Stanton slams five hits
NEW YORK (A) - On Tuesday, New York (A)'s leftfielder Giancarlo Stanton displayed his sensational ability to handle the bat against St. Louis, punishing their pitchers with five hits. His 3rd hit, a solo homerun off Sean Marshall in the 6th inning, landed an estimated 446 feet from home plate. His 4th hit, a three-run homerun off Sean Marshall in the 7th inning, cleared the fence in left field. A three-run double off Sean Marshall in the 8th inning accounted for his 5th hit. He collected singles in the 1st inning and in the 4th . Giancarlo scored 3 runs, and he collected 7 RBI as well! The American League's best player of the week was Chicago (A)'s Wilin Rosario, who wins the award for the 2nd time in his career. He had an on base percentage of .545 and hit .550, while driving in 10 runs. This year Rosario drove in 36 and scored 24 runs while batting .279 with 12 bombs. He's 3rd in the American League in RBIs and 2nd in homeruns! Rich Harden of Atlanta wins his 3rd Player of the Week award for dominating National League's hitters the entire week. He was in a zone all week, compiling an ERA of 0.00 while going 2-0. He pitched two shutouts!
