Thursday 8/15/2013: Miami's Dickerson severely injured
MIAMI - Miami's centerfielder Corey Dickerson will miss about 5-6 weeks after he hurt himself badly in the 8th inning of the game between Miami and Arizona. He dove for a drive off the bat of Ramon J. Hernandez, and immediately signaled that he's not OK after hitting the ground. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Broken Foot. Corey is hitting .245 this year, with 106 hits in 432 at bats. He has driven in 68 runs, slugging .454.
Wednesday 8/14/2013: Chicago (N)'s Haniger out for 6-7 weeks
CHICAGO (N) - Chicago (N)'s players were scared when they had to watch Mitch Haniger suffer a serious injury when he dove for a ball in the game against St. Louis. He collapsed in pain and was helped off the field. Haniger will probaby miss 6-7 weeks. Chicago (N) wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Haniger had suffered a Spasms Back. Haniger has hit for a .271 average this season. He has 33 extra base hits along with 162 total bases, resulting in a .419 slugging percentage.
Wednesday 8/14/2013: Aaron Hill out for 6 weeks
KANSAS CITY - Kansas City's second baseman Aaron Hill will miss at least 6 weeks after he got hurt seriously while running hard toward second base. He began limping and then fell down, causing a scary moment for his teammates. He had to be carried off the field. Hill was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Pulled Achilles Tendon. This year Hill drove in 50 and scored 40 runs while batting .276 with 10 bombs.
Tuesday 8/13/2013: Robinson Cano punishes Kansas City with six hits
KANSAS CITY - Robinson Cano hits 'em where they ain't. Kansas City certainly agrees as Minnesota's second baseman unloaded six hits, adding to his reputation of being one of the best pure hitters in the game. His 2nd hit, off Chris Carpenter in the 2nd inning, was a two-run homerun and cleared the fence in right field. His 5th hit, a GRAND SLAM off Tommy Kahnle in the 8th inning, cleared the fence in center field. He had singles in the 1st inning , in the 4th , in the 5th inning and in the 8th inning (one RBI). Robinson scored 6 runs, and he collected 7 RBI as well! He now has a total of 84 hits this season, accounting for a .220 batting average. Minnesota scored 37 runs on 24 hits.
Monday 8/12/2013: San Francisco's Lincecum wins Player of the Week award
The American League's best player of the week was Baltimore's Michael Brantley, who wins the award for the 1st time in his career. He had an on base percentage of .464 and hit .444, while driving in 10 runs. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 15 game hitting streak right now. The National League's best player of the week was San Francisco's Tim Lincecum, who wins the award for the 1st time in his career. Tim went 2-0 with an ERA of 0.00, while fanning 17 in 18 innings of work. He pitched two shutouts! In 18 starts this year Tim struck out 130 batters in 147.2 innings of work. His ERA is 1.40, his record 14-1. He has 9 complete games and 5 shutouts.
Sunday 8/11/2013: Edwin Jackson fires NO-NO against Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA - Cleveland's right-hander Edwin Jackson is a really great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff while making history, blanking Philadelphia on no hits. 'I hit the corners with all of my pitches. That helped a lot!' Jackson (13-8) fanned 8 and walked none, throwing 105 pitches. Adam Dunn helped Jackson at the plate, he collected 1 hit in 2 trips to the plate, homering once, and driving in 2 runs. Cleveland improved its record to 70-40, scoring 4 runs on 8 hits.

NEW YORK (N) - New York (N)'s rightfielder Jay Bruce suffered a serious injury when he was struck by a pitch from Toronto's Josh Johnson. He collapsed in pain and was helped off the field. Bruce will probaby miss 5 weeks. New York (N) wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Bruce had suffered a Fractured Wrist. Bruce has hit 12 longballs this year while batting .294. He adds 21 doubles, along with 54 runs scored.
Friday 8/9/2013: Brian Kintzler shuts out Toronto on 2 hits
TORONTO - Great days are rare. But not for New York (N)'s right-hander Brian Kintzler. Toronto found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just 2 hits. It's his 6th shutout this season, and the 16th time he has done it in his career. 'My catcher called a very good game. I have to give credit to him.' Kintzler (13-5) struck out 4 and issued 3 BB, throwing 74 of 117 pitches for strikes. New York (N)'s third baseman Chris Davis collected 2 hits in 3 trips to the plate, hitting a homerun, stroking a double, with 2 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Kintzler. The final score of the game was 7-0.
