Friday 5/2/2014: New York (N)'s Kelly Johnson slams six hits
ST. LOUIS - Kelly Johnson is among the best pure hitters in the game, but his 6 hit performance seemed to surprise even himself. His 2nd hit, a three-run homerun off Anthony Vasquez in the 3rd inning, landed an estimated 405 feet from home plate. In the 5th inning he unloaded a two-run homerun off Dietrich Enns. A RBI double off Mickey Storey in the 7th inning accounted for his 5th hit. He collected singles in the 1st inning , in the 4th and in the 9th (one RBI). Wednesday 4/30/2014: Jake Peavy fires 2-hitter against Detroit
SEATTLE - Detroit's bats were sleeping, and Seattle's Jake Peavy gave them no chance to wake up. He gave up just 2 hits in recording his 1st shutout of the season. 'They took some ugly cuts at my breaking stuff, so I kept throwing it. Fortunately they were not able to adjust in time.' The Player of the Week award in the American League goes to Los Angeles (A)'s Mike Trout this time, as the leftfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Trout helped his team with an average of .500 and 15 RBI in 28 at bats. His season features a batting average of .386 (27 hits in 70 AB), 5 doubles, no triples and 2 longballs. Trout collected 16 RBI and 25 runs as well. He's 3rd in the American League in batting and 6th in RBI! CHICAGO (A) - Chicago (A)'s left-hander Brent Leach suffered a severe injury on Sunday and will be out for at least 7 weeks. In the 4th of the game against Los Angeles (A) he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. Chicago (A) wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital.
