Saturday 5/24/2014: Colorado's Turner out for full season
COLORADO - Colorado's second baseman Justin Turner will miss the rest of the season. He injured himself running the bases in the game between Colorado and San Diego. The injury didn't seem to be serious the moment it happened. But suddenly Turner collapsed in pain and had to be carried off the field. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Broken Ankle. Surgery will be performed next week. Turner has walked 11 times this year and posts a .324 OBP. While batting .261, 43 for 165, he has driven in 16 runs.
Thursday 5/22/2014: Philadelphia's J.J. Hardy has great day with five hits
PHILADELPHIA - On Thursday, Philadelphia's shortstop J.J. Hardy displayed his sensational ability to handle the bat against St. Louis, punishing their pitchers with five hits. In the 6th inning he belted a two-run double off Dietrich Enns. A pitch from Bruce Billings in the 7th inning left his bat for a three-run homerun, landing 432 feet from home plate in right-center. Number 5 in the 8th inning accounted for a double. He had singles in the 2nd (one RBI) and in the 4th . J.J. did drive in 6 while scoring 4 runs on his own. Thursday 5/22/2014: Carlos Zambrano dominates Seattle, gives up just 2 hits
BOSTON - Boston's right-hander Carlos Zambrano is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Seattle found out the hard way, getting just 2 hits. Zambrano 2nd shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 35th shutouts in his career. Zambrano (3-4) struck out 9 and walked none, throwing 69 of 106 pitches for strikes. 'That was one of the best games of my career. I had my stuff working very well today.' Freddy Galvis helped Zambrano at the plate, he collected 3 hits in 4 trips to the plate. Boston improved its record to 7-36, scoring 1 run on 8 hits.
Tuesday 5/20/2014: Felix Hernandez NO-HITS Toronto
OAKLAND - Felix Hernandez had some fun again. REAL fun. Toronto hitters did not. Oakland's right-hander fired a no-hitter in his 2nd shutout of the season. He now has 16 career shutouts in 345 games started. A.J. Pierzynski spoiled the bid for a perfect game when he was hit by a pitch with 1 away in the 5th inning. 'They took some ugly cuts at my breaking stuff, so I kept throwing it. Fortunately they were not able to adjust in time.' Hernandez (5-3) struck out 7 and issued 1 BB, throwing 54 of 91 pitches for strikes. Aramis Ramirez helped Hernandez at the plate, he stroked 2 hits in 3 AB, doubling twice. The final score of the game was 3-0.

LOS ANGELES (N) - When it rains, it pours. Los Angeles (N)'s right-hander Blake Hawksworth will not pitch for at least 7 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Chicago (N) where he left the field in the 7th inning. After being taken to a local hospital, Hawksworth was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Torn Bicep Muscle. Blake has a record of 0-1 this season, with an ERA of 5.06. In 10.2 Innings he was able to strike out 14 batters.
