MIAMI - Curtis Granderson hits 'em where they ain't. Miami certainly agrees as Philadelphia's centerfielder unloaded five hits, adding to his reputation of being one of the best pure hitters in the game. A 344 foot drive to left field marked his 3rd hit, a solo homerun off Pedro Beato in the 6th inning. In the 7th inning he belted a double off Jeff *Bennett. His 5th hit was a two-run double off Jeff *Bennett in the 8th inning. He collected singles in the 1st and in the 1st inning (one RBI). Curtis scored 4 runs, and he collected 4 RBI as well! This season has been a good one for him so far, as he has 90 hits in 290 at bats, resulting in a .310 batting average. Philadelphia scored 21 runs on 21 hits.

TORONTO - Mark Prior took the mound and never left. And Boston hitters couldn't touch him at all. Toronto's right-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 1st shutout of the season. He now has 25 career shutouts in 284 games started. 'Pitching a great game is always a good thing. And it doesn't get much better than today.' It's the 2nd time that the American League Player of the Week award goes to Minnesota's pitcher Max Scherzer. Scherzer was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 0.00. Along the way he struck out 16 in 14 innings. He hurled a shutout as well. Max has a record of 10-4 this season, with an ERA of 1.43. In 113 Innings he was able to strike out 120 batters.
