Minnesota (formerly Washington) is in full rebuild mode and is looking to move a few veteran players in exchange for points, picks or prospects.
SP George Zuverink: www.hoffbl.com/leaguesite/p3468.html
Contract: 2.53 mil/yr/ 3 years
Age: 36
Throws: Right
End: D/C - Can Close, too.
Stats: 6-5, 3.17 ERA, 1.17 WHIP. 15 app/15 GS. 99.1 IP/ 82 H/ 35 R/ 34 ER/ 61 K/ 34 BB/ 4 CG
GB %: 56%
Rating: 2.0 Stars
Price: Points, pick (2nd Rd or low 1st) or a solid pitching prospect (3.0-3.5 star, preferably A or AA)
Description: George continues to roll along and put up quality innings start after start. He's arguably the most under appreciated Starting Pitcher in the entire league. His contract is cheap and he eats up innings. He finished the first half last year with a record of 5-6 and an ERA of 2.79 ERA. He finished the year 6th in the league in ERA and 9th in WHIP. George is a very efficient Starter who will give any team a lot of quality innings. I'm happy to keep him until his contract expires in 1963, however he really would help any team that is either already a contender or in need of pitching help.
SP Mike "The Big Bear" Garcia: www.hoffbl.com/leaguesite/p1016.html
Contract: 4.37 million/ 1 year
Age: 37
Throws: Right
End: C
Stats: 6-7, 3.54 ERA. 18 app/ 14 GS. 117 IP/ 135 H/ 61 R/ 46 ER/ 39 K/ 34 BB/ 6 CG
GB %: 63%
Rating: 2.5 stars
Price: Same as Zuverink, except that the prospect would be a 2.0 to 3.0 star. Also preferably A or AA.
Description: Big Mike has been relegated to the pen but he had put up solid numbers before that and was relegated to that role because of depth in the Starting Rotation. Mike doesn't K many, but will give you innings, doesn't issue many free passes (he's an 8 in "walks"), is cheap and willing to resign a 1 year extension for under 2 million (if you are so inclined I could do that for you). He doesn't fit the direction that this team is going in, but he could still be a useful starter for a better team.
SP Ruben Gomez: www.hoffbl.com/leaguesite/p1086.html
Contract: 3.5 million per year/ 2 years
Age: 33
Throws: Right
End: B/C
Stats: 7-6, 4.95 ERA. 17 app/ 17 GS. 123.2 IP/ 145 H/ 72 R/ 68 ER/ 48 K/ 57 BB/ 2 CG/ 1 SO
GB %: 54%
Rating: 2.5 stars
Price: Points, 2.0- 2.5 star prospect, 2nd or 3rd Rd pick. Prefer A or AA SP or RP.
Description: Ruben is having a Ruben year so far. Control is still an issue, but he is capable of giving innings and might toss the occasional shutout (as his stats indicate). He averages six to seven innings a start and went from 5/19 to 6/2 without throwing below 8 in a start, including back to back CGs. (Against CLE and BAL, with BAL being a shutout.). He can give a contender a middle to bottom of the rotation innings eater or an almost contender an extra veteran arm to pick up some wins.
CL Joe "Little Joe" Presko:www.hoffbl.com/leaguesite/p2498.html GONE
Contract: 4 million per year/ 2 years
Age: 32
Throws: Right
End: D/B
Stats: 5-9, 5.46 ERA. 54 app, 27 saves. 59.1 IP/ 83 H/ 38 R/ 36 ER/ 34 K/ 25 BB.
GB %: 48%
Rating: 4.0 stars
Price: Points, picks (2nd Rd) or prospect (2.5 to 3.5 star). Prefer A or AA SP or RP, or a AA Catcher.
Description: Presko had a terrible year out of the pen for us, there's no two ways about it. Presko has the ability to Close and I expect him to get it together next season. If he's not needed to Close, he can also Start and had one very good and one decent season for us as a Starter.
Those are the guys I'm primarily willing to discuss. If Grossman, Freeman and Oldham interest you, feel free to inquire within.
PM me if you're interested.
