Tuesday 6/2/2015: Sean Burroughs on fire, crushes three
MILWAUKEE - Detroit beat Milwaukee 11-2, but that was not the real story of the game. Sean Burroughs was, as he went deep three times. His 1st blast, a solo homerun off John Lackey in the 2nd inning, landed an estimated 456 feet from home plate. Number 2 in the 4th inning, a shot estimated at 390 feet, cleared the wall in right field. His 3rd shot, a three-run homerun off Lucas Luetge in the 9th inning, cleared the fence in center field. Sean stroked 3 hits in 5 AB, scoring three runs with 5 RBI. On 4/11/2015, Freddy Galvis was the last player to hit 3 dingers in a single game.
Tuesday 6/2/2015: Carlos Zambrano turns in great performance against Baltimore
BALTIMORE - Carlos Zambrano took the mound and never left. And Baltimore hitters couldn't touch him at all. San Diego's right-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 3rd shutout of the season. He now has 42 career shutouts in 363 games started. 'They took some ugly cuts at my breaking stuff, so I kept throwing it. Fortunately they were not able to adjust in time.' NEW YORK (A) - New York (A) is without its right-hander Gil Meche for at least 9 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Aubrey Huff in a game against Cincinnati. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Doctors examined him after the game and diagnosed a Strained Tricep Muscle which will require surgery. This season Meche compiled an ERA of 3.05, going 3-1 in 11 starts. He fanned 54 while giving up 59 hits in 56 innings.

NEW YORK (A) - New York (A)'s shortstop Troy Tulowitzki suffered a serious injury when he was struck by a pitch from Houston's Christian Friedrich. He collapsed in pain and was helped off the field. Tulowitzki will probaby miss 8 weeks. After being taken to a local hospital, Tulowitzki was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Fractured Skull. Tulowitzki has walked 19 times this year and posts a .346 OBP. While batting .264, 48 for 182, he has driven in 21 runs.

It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 24th time he has done it in his career. Morton (7-1) struck out 7 and walked 3, throwing 66 of 113 pitches for strikes. 'Wow, what a nice day. PITTSBURGH - Philadelphia's Carlos Ruiz showed a smile on his face after he got his 2000th career hit against Pittsburgh on Monday. He hit a two run homerun in the 8th off Dontrelle Willis for number 2000. Along with his 2000 hits, Carlos collected 276 homeruns and 1162 RBI in 14 seasons. 'I still remember my first hit. But the one today is something special. I'll definitely keep that ball!'
Monday 5/25/2015: Texas' Teixeira wins Player of the Week award
The Player of the Week award in the American League goes to Texas' Mark Teixeira this time, as the first baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. CHICAGO (N) - Great days are rare. But not for Chicago (N)'s right-hander Charlie A. Morton. Los Angeles (N) found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just one hit. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 24th time he has done it in his career. Morton (7-1) struck out 7 and walked 3, throwing 66 of 113 pitches for strikes. 'Wow, what a nice day. I guess I had a good breakfast today.' Chicago (N)'s catcher Joe Mauer got 3 hits in 4 AB, stroking a double, and collecting 2 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Morton. The final score of the game was 6-0.
Tuesday 5/26/2015: Kyle Hendricks (CHA) will miss 5 weeks
CHICAGO (A) - Chicago (A) is without its right-hander Kyle Hendricks for at least 5 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Michael Brantley in a game against Baltimore. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Hendricks was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Pulled Bicep Muscle. Kyle has a record of 3-4 this season, with an ERA of 4.10. In 68 Innings he was able to strike out 65 batters.

BALTIMORE - Baltimore's leftfielder Michael Brantley will miss at least 4 weeks after he got hurt seriously while running hard toward second base. Monday 5/25/2015: Carlos Ruiz collects 2000th hit against Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH - Philadelphia's Carlos Ruiz showed a smile on his face after he got his 2000th career hit against Pittsburgh on Monday. He hit a two run homerun in the 8th off Dontrelle Willis for number 2000. Along with his 2000 hits, Carlos collected 276 homeruns and 1162 RBI in 14 seasons. 'I still remember my first hit. But the one today is something special. I'll definitely keep that ball!'
Monday 5/25/2015: Texas' Teixeira wins Player of the Week award
The Player of the Week award in the American League goes to Texas' Mark Teixeira this time, as the first baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. He had an on base percentage of .520 and hit .500, while driving in 8 runs. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 7 game hitting streak right now. Albert Pujols wins his 9th Player of the Week award. National League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long.
