Monday 7/27/2015: Player of the Week honors go to Johnson and Goldschmidt
Josh Johnson of Toronto wins his 2nd Player of the Week award for dominating American League's hitters the entire week. Josh went 2-0 with an ERA of 0.00, while fanning 19 in 16.1 innings of work. He hurled a shutout as well. Paul Goldschmidt from St. Louis wins his 3rd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the National League. He had an on base percentage of .625 and hit .600, while driving in 12 runs. Paul managed to drive in at least one run in every game he played this week.
Sunday 7/26/2015: Josh Johnson turns in great performance against Arizona
TORONTO - Josh Johnson took the mound and never left. And Arizona hitters couldn't touch him at all. Toronto's southpaw gave up just 2 hits in his 6th shutout of the season. He now has 41 career shutouts in 297 games started. 'I was able to keep´em off balance. That certainly helped.' Johnson (16-3) fanned 9 and walked none, throwing 113 pitches. The hitting star for Toronto was leftfielder Coco Crisp, he collected 1 hit in 3 trips to the plate, with 2 RBI. Toronto improved its record to 70-30, scoring 3 runs on 8 hits.
Friday 7/24/2015: Odalis Perez pitches 2-hit shutout against Arizona
TORONTO - Toronto's southpaw Odalis Perez is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Arizona on just 2 hits. It's his 3rd shutout this season, and the 54th time he has done it in his career. 'I'll have to give a lot of credit to my catcher. He put all the right fingers down today.' Perez (14-5) fanned 8 and walked 1, throwing 111 pitches. B.J Upton helped Perez at the plate, he went 3 for 5, homering twice, scoring three times with 3 RBI. Toronto improved its record to 68-30, scoring 11 runs on 17 hits.
Thursday 7/23/2015: Alex Cintron ropes 2000th career hit
ST. LOUIS - Texas' players had every reason to congratulate Alex Cintron, who reached a milestone today, collecting his 2000th career hit! His hit in the 4th inning was a single off Jake Arrieta. In 11 years of big league action so far, Alex has compiled a batting average of .285, along with 98 homeruns and 810 RBI. 'You dream about that as a kid, but when you reach such a milestone it's hard to believe. Fantastic.'
Wednesday 7/22/2015: Jeff Weaver has done it, earns 300th win
CLEVELAND - Cleveland's right-hander Jeff Weaver gained immortality by recording his 300th win in the big leagues. Jeff Weaver threw 103 pitches in 7.1 innings, 68 for strikes. He allowed one earned run while striking out 2 and walking one earned run. He has enmassed 3258 K's in 3717 career innings so far, and posts a 2.34 lifetime ERA. He set a career high with 24 wins in 2001. Weaver won 20 or more games a season 8 times. 'I guess I'll celebrate a bit today. But the most important thing is winning, and my whole career I gave everything I could to help my team.' The Hall of Fame is already waiting for this great player.

PHILADELPHIA - Great days are rare. But not for Los Angeles (A)'s right-hander Shaun Marcum. Philadelphia found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just 2 hits. It's his 3rd shutout this season, and the 16th time he has done it in his career. Marcum (14-4) fanned 4 and walked 3, throwing 130 pitches. 'I felt early that I was on top of my game. Fortunately I was able to keep that feeling the entire game.' Mookie Betts helped Marcum at the plate, he got 2 hits in 5 AB, blasting a homerun. Los Angeles (A) improved its record to 64-29, scoring 2 runs on 8 hits.

BOSTON - San Francisco's right-hander Tim Lincecum is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Boston found out the hard way, getting just 2 hits. Lincecum 5th shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 26th shutouts in his career. Lincecum (14-5) was overpowering, fanning 12 while walking 1, throwing 109 pitches. 'Hey, that's my job! Everytime I take the mound I give the best I can.
