Saturday 8/22/2015: Mark Prior fires 2-hitter against Cleveland
TORONTO - Toronto's right-hander Mark Prior is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Cleveland on just 2 hits. It's his 4th shutout this season, and the 33rd time he has done it in his career. 'I had my stuff going. Everything I tried worked. What a day!' Prior (21-6) fanned 6 and walked none, throwing 105 pitches. Elian Herrera helped Prior at the plate, he got 3 hits in 3 AB, stroking two 2B's. Toronto scored 1 run on 7 hits.
Tuesday 8/18/2015: Chicago (A)'s Bonderman severely injured
CHICAGO (A) - Chicago (A)'s right-hander Jeremy Bonderman suffered a severe injury on Tuesday and will be out for at least 6-7 weeks. In the 6th of the game against Boston he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. After being taken to a local hospital, Bonderman was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Torn Tricep Muscle. In 24 starts this year Jeremy struck out 94 batters in 158.1 innings of work. His ERA is 5.23, his record 1-15.
Monday 8/17/2015: Player of the Week honors go to Lester and Freeman
Cleveland's pitcher Jon Lester had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the American League Player of the Week. He was in a zone all week, compiling an ERA of 0.59 while going 2-0. He hurled a shutout as well. His ERA of 1.42 helped him to a 16-6 record this year. He struck out 169 and walked 29 in 190 innings. Jon has pitched 4 shutouts and 7 complete games. Freddie Freeman from St. Louis wins his 8th Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the National League. Freddie was on fire, hitting .485 with 2 HR and 11 RBI. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 13 game hitting streak right now.
