I just want to offer a reminder that we have a games started limit rule. Given the change from the 154 to 162-game schedule, I felt it appropriate to extend the rule from 39 games to 40 games. What this means is that starters may start 40 games with no problems; however, when the starter starts his 41st game, he will become injured for the rest of the season (and playoffs) immediately after the sim in which he starts the 41st game.
I offer this for 2 reasons:
1) Some starters have already started their 9th game, putting them on pace for 42+ starts. Be careful!
2) It would not have been fair to hold the line on 39 because we added 8 games to the schedule and I did not give you guys enough time to adjust. In an effort to ensure consistency with real life, I will keep this 40-game limit until 1977, when the 40-game limit will be lowered; the following schedule and limits will be imposed:
1977: 39 GS 1982: 38 GS 1987: 37 GS 1992: 36 GS 1997: 35 GS
This change will be effective immediately.

Has this really been enforced? Had guys hit this a few seasons i believe? Just saying why the limit anyhow? Its the risk we take if we overplay our starters

So a lot of people are going to come close to this rule? why is this a rule again? Shouldn't come any closer than before. Basically, if you have a 4 man rotation all season, it should work out perfectly. If you are going to start a guy on short rest, or coming out of the AS break, you might end up being a game or two over.

So a lot of people are going to come close to this rule? why is this a rule again? So everyone has to have at least 4-5 decent SP? Otherwise I find 3 stud SP, load up my bullpen and hope for the best.

as ive read the rule if a player goes over 40 games he is shut down including playoffs. so are playoff games included in the total.. i understand outlawing 3 man rotations but using 4 men should be up to the gm...if he wants to overpitch his starters so be it.

No, the playoffs don't count. It's just the regular season. And you can run a 4 man rotation. All season. And you won't hit the limit. Right?

Yes, you could use a 4-man strict rotation all season and your #1 and #2 starters would get 41 GS and #3 and #4 would get 40 GS. This would automatically shut down your #1 and #2 starters. Not good. Especially not good if they started an additional game if rested (All-Star Game) or if the rotation was set to Rested Starter to begin with.

At this point only Rowe (BOS) and Daniels (SFG) would get hit. But I would only apply the "injury" AFTER the sim, which may be the last regular season sim anyway. Meaning, they may start their 41st game with no repercussions, especially if the don't make the playoffs.

Yeah I put in Buzhardt to make sure this wouldn't happen for me, but now that I have a bigger division lead, I might as well let him and Ron Taylor get some more innings in

Just need to run 1 or 2 sims with a 5th starter as your "spot" guy, basically.
