Saturday 7/23/2016: Chuck James turns in great performance against Seattle
ATLANTA - Atlanta's left-hander Chuck James is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Seattle on just 2 hits. It's his 4th shutout this season, and the 33rd time he has done it in his career. 'I felt early that I was on top of my game. Fortunately I was able to keep that feeling the entire game.' James (16-1) showed excellent control, walking nobody and fanning 9. Rocco Baldelli provided Atlanta with the offense James needed as he finished 1 for 3. The final score of the game was 2-0.
Friday 7/22/2016: Niko Goodrum nabs five hits against Miami
KANSAS CITY - Niko Goodrum saw the ball really well, leading Kansas City to a 20-12 win over Miami. His five hits thrilled his teammates and coaches, and Niko seemed happy as well after the game. His 1st hit, off Chris Tillman in the 1st inning, was a solo homerun and cleared the fence in center field. Number 2 in the 1st inning, a shot estimated at 359 feet, cleared the wall in left field. A three-run double off Mike Hinckley in the 5th inning accounted for his 4th hit. A double off Mike Hinckley in the 7th inning accounted for his 5th hit. He had a single in the 5th. Niko did drive in 6 while scoring 2 runs on his own. He now has a total of 93 hits this season, accounting for a .263 batting average.
Friday 7/22/2016: Ben Sheets quiets Cincinnati bats with shutout
TORONTO - Toronto's right-hander Ben Sheets is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Cincinnati found out the hard way, getting just one hit. Sheets 4th shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 54th shutouts in his career. Sheets (10-11) struck out 7 and issued 1 BB, throwing 59 of 90 pitches for strikes. 'Winning is the most important thing. And I gave my team all the support it needed!' Alex Avila provided Toronto with the offense Sheets needed as he went 2 for 3, stroking a double, scoring 2 runs. Toronto scored 5 runs on 10 hits.
Thursday 7/21/2016: Chris R. Young dominates Milwaukee, gives up just 2 hits
NEW YORK (A) - Age doesn't matter. At least New York (A)'s right-hander Chris R. Young shares this opinion. The 37 year old pitched a 2-hit shutout against Milwaukee, recording his 2nd shutout of the season. 'I had a good grip on the ball today and I was able to put it where I wanted. That kept them out of balance.' Young (12-3) fanned 6 and walked 2, throwing 100 pitches. New York (A)'s centerfielder Nyjer Morgan went 2 for 4, and collecting 2 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Young. The final score of the game was 7-0.

ARIZONA - Minnesota's right-hander Max Scherzer made some history today, firing a no-hitter against Arizona. Their hitters found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, never having a chance against his overpowering stuff. 'I hit the corners with all of my pitches. That helped a lot!' Scherzer (15-3) was overpowering, fanning 10 while walking 4, throwing 125 pitches. Joe Mauer helped Scherzer at the plate, he went 4 for 6, homering twice, scoring three times and driving in 7 runs. The final score of the game was 30-0.
Sunday 7/17/2016: Rhys Hoskins slams 3 HR
SEATTLE - Rhys Hoskins was in a groove, and the results spoke for themselves. He powered Seattle to a 27-8 win over Miami by homering three times. His 1st shot, a solo homerun off Chien-Ming Wang in the 1st inning, cleared the fence in left-center. A pitch from Mike Hinckley in the 3rd inning left his bat for a solo homerun, landing 385 feet from home plate in left-center. His 3rd blast, a three-run homerun off Mike Hinckley in the 5th inning, landed an estimated 371 feet from home plate. Rhys went 5 for 5, doubling twice, with FIVE runs scored with 8 RBI. HOUSTON - Corey Kluber had some fun again. Houston hitters did not. San Diego's right-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 3rd shutout of the season. He now has 22 career shutouts in 197 games started. Kluber (10-5) struck out 9 and walked none, throwing 61 of 98 pitches for strikes. 'That was one of the best games of my career. I had my stuff working very well today.' San Diego's centerfielder David Dahl went 3 for 5, doubling twice, scoring 2 runs and collecting 4 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Kluber. The final score of the game was 11-0.
