Friday 7/29/2016: Adam Dunn knocks lights out with four homeruns
CLEVELAND - Adam Dunn powered Cleveland to a 19-6 win over Cincinnati. He did it in style by homering four times, and showed the crowd of 42883 that old men can still play the ballgame. A pitch from Max Fried in the 1st inning left his bat for a two-run homerun, landing 473 feet from home plate in right field. His 2nd shot, a solo homerun off Max Fried in the 3rd inning, cleared the fence in left-center. His 3rd shot, off Derek Jones in the 4th inning, was a GRAND SLAM and cleared the fence in right-center. Number 4 in the 8th inning, a shot estimated at 442 feet, cleared the wall in right field. Overall he finished 5 for 5, hitting a double, and collecting 9 RBI. His homerun total this year is 22, along with 64 RBI. It's pretty obvious that he will enter the Hall of Fame some day!
Friday 7/29/2016: Brett Anderson blanks Chicago (A) with a 2-hitter
CHICAGO (A) - St. Louis' lefty Brett Anderson is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Chicago (A) on just 2 hits. It's his 4th shutout this season, and the 11th time he has done it in his career. Anderson (16-4) struck out 8 and issued 1 BB, throwing 70 of 116 pitches for strikes. 'Today I just felt fine. I had a good feeling while warming up.' Albert Pujols helped Anderson at the plate, he got 2 hits in 4 AB, hitting a homerun, and collecting 2 RBI. The final score of the game was 4-0.
Thursday 7/28/2016: Toronto's Gordon severely injured
TORONTO - Toronto's leftfielder Alex Gordon hurt himself in the 6th inning while making a routine throw to first base. He experienced serious pain and had to leave the game. Alex Gordon will miss at least 5-6 weeks. Pulled Rotator Cuff Muscle was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. Alex is hitting .249 this year, with 87 hits in 350 at bats. He has driven in 70 runs, slugging .494.
Monday 7/25/2016: Mauer (MIN) and Pujols (STL) win P.O.W. award
Joe Mauer wins his 1st Player of the Week award. American League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Mauer helped his team with an average of .522 and 12 RBI in 23 at bats. The Player of the Week award in the National League goes to St. Louis' Albert Pujols this time, as the third baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Pujols helped his team with an average of .526 and 9 RBI in 19 at bats.
Sunday 7/24/2016: Travis d'Arnaud on fire, crushes three
LOS ANGELES (N) - Travis d'Arnaud can hit'em a long way, and Cleveland pitchers couldn't smile about that today. Los Angeles (N)'s catcher unloaded three bombs, adding to his reputation of being one of the best power hitters in the game. Number 1 in the 2nd inning, a shot estimated at 470 feet, cleared the wall in left field. His 2nd shot, off Stephen Strasburg in the 4th inning, was a three-run homerun and cleared the fence in right field. His 3rd blast, a two-run homerun off Curtis Lyons in the 6th inning, landed an estimated 429 feet from home plate. Overall he finished 3 for 4, scoring three times with 6 RBI. Los Angeles (N) improved its record to 70-32, scoring 8 runs on 10 hits.
