Tuesday 9/13/2016: Chad Billingsley quiets Philadelphia bats with shutout
PHILADELPHIA - Chad Billingsley took the mound and never left. And Philadelphia hitters couldn't touch him at all. San Francisco's right-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 7th shutout of the season. He now has 58 career shutouts in 324 games started. Billingsley (19-3) struck out 8 and walked none, throwing 72 of 100 pitches for strikes. 'I'll have to give a lot of credit to my catcher. He put all the right fingers down today.' Russell Martin helped Billingsley at the plate, he finished 4 for 5, doubling once, scoring two runs and collecting 3 RBI. San Francisco improved its record to 106-39, scoring 15 runs on 14 hits.
Monday 9/12/2016: Zack Godley dominates Seattle, gives up just one hit
SEATTLE - Los Angeles (A)'s right-hander Zack Godley is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Seattle on just one hit. It's his 4th shutout this season, and the 7th time he has done it in his career. 'Today I just felt fine. I had a good feeling while warming up.' Godley (21-3) showed excellent control, walking nobody and fanning 8. DJ LeMahieu helped Godley at the plate, he stroked 2 hits in 3 AB, homering twice, with three runs scored and collecting 2 RBI. Los Angeles (A) improved its record to 104-40, scoring 6 runs on 7 hits.
Monday 9/12/2016: Brantley and Craig win Player of the Week award
The Player of the Week award in the American League goes to Baltimore's Michael Brantley this time, as the leftfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Michael went 15 for 27 (.556), while hitting 2 HR and collecting 9 RBI. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 25 game hitting streak right now. While compiling an on base percentage of .373, Michael hit .339 and slugged .612. He has collected 89 runs batted in this year. It's the 3rd time that the National League Player of the Week award goes to Chicago (N)'s first baseman Allen Craig. Allen went 14 for 20 (.700), while hitting 3 HR and collecting 8 RBI. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 11 game hitting streak right now. This year Craig drove in 139 and scored 97 runs while batting .328 with 39 bombs. He's 6th in the National League in batting, 8th in homeruns and 1st in RBI!
Sunday 9/11/2016: Miami has no chance in a 2-hitter by Madison Bumgarner
SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco's southpaw Madison Bumgarner is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Miami found out the hard way, getting just 2 hits. Bumgarner 5th shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 23rd shutouts in his career. 'I'll have to give a lot of credit to my catcher. He put all the right fingers down today.' Bumgarner (22-6) struck out an astounding 14 and walked 1, throwing 79 of 124 pitches for strikes. Pablo Sandoval helped Bumgarner at the plate, he stroked 3 hits in 6 AB, blasting a homerun, hitting a double, scoring two runs and driving in 6 runs. The final score of the game was 17-0.
Sunday 9/11/2016: Detroit's Jimmy Rollins gets milestone hit
DETROIT - Detroit's players had every reason to congratulate Jimmy Rollins, who reached a milestone today, collecting his 3000th career hit! His best year so far was 2009 where he hit .363 with 7 homeruns and 77 RBI. 'My firends always told me that I will do it one day. I never believed it. Good that I was wrong!' His hit in the 1st inning was a single off Seth Lugo. It's no secret that he will one day be in the Hall of Fame!
Saturday 9/10/2016: Miguel Cabrera ropes 500th career homerun
MINNESOTA - Minnesota's Miguel Cabrera showed a smile on his face after he belted his 500th career homerun against Oakland on Saturday. Along with his 500 homeruns, Miguel collected 2909 hits and 1895 RBI in 15 seasons. Miguel hit 30+ homeruns in a season 9 times, hitting 40 bombs 2 times. 'I'm out of words. I'll probably realize it tomorrow, but for now I'm done.' The historic drive, a two-run homerun off Clay Rapada in the 7th inning, landed an estimated 345 feet from home plate. It's no secret that he will one day be in the Hall of Fame!

CINCINNATI - Andy Phillips got a standing ovation from 24178 fans in Cincinnati, who witnessed his 2000th career hit. His hit in the 1st inning was a single off Tyler Skaggs. In 12 years of big league action so far, Andy has compiled a batting average of .279, along with 203 homeruns and 990 RBI. 'This day is special, I'll probably remember it my whole life. Thank god I'm blessed with the talent to play this game.'

MINNESOTA - Brandon Woodruff took the mound and never left. And Cleveland hitters couldn't touch him at all. Minnesota's right-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 3rd shutout of the season. He now has 6 career shutouts in 60 games started. Ryan Howard spoiled the bid for a no-hitter when he singled with one out in the 6th inning. 'Giving my team a chance to win is the most important thing for me. I was able to do it today.' Woodruff (16-4) struck out 8 and walked 1, throwing 64 of 109 pitches for strikes. The hitting star for Minnesota was rightfielder Joey Gallo, he finished 3 for 4, hitting a homerun, hitting a double, scoring two runs.
