Wednesday 5/24/2017: Los Angeles (A)'s Godley out for 4-5 weeks
LOS ANGELES (A) - Los Angeles (A) is without its right-hander Zack Godley for at least 4-5 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Nick Castellanos in a game against Kansas City. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Godley was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Herniated Disc Back. Opposing players hit .189 against Zack this season. While posting an ERA of 2.16 he went 7-1 in 10 starts, fanning 78 and walking 9 hitters. Zack has pitched one shutout and 4 complete games. He's 10th in the American League in ERA and 5th in wins!
Monday 5/22/2017: St. Louis' Soler wins Player of the Week award
The Player of the Week award in the American League goes to Los Angeles (A)'s Mookie Betts this time, as the rightfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Mookie was on fire, hitting .423 with 3 HR and 6 RBI. The National League Player of the Week award goes to Jorge Soler, St. Louis' starting centerfielder. He hit .429 with 8 RBI and slugged 1.286 in 21 at bats. He now has homered in 4 consecutive games as well!
Sunday 5/21/2017: Corey Hart out for 5 weeks
COLORADO - Colorado's rightfielder Corey Hart will miss at least 5 weeks after he got hurt seriously while running hard toward second base. He began limping and then fell down, causing a scary moment for his teammates. He had to be carried off the field. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Pulled Groin Muscle. Corey is hitting .361 this year, with 65 hits in 180 at bats. He has driven in 54 runs, slugging .739. He's 4th in the National League in batting, 5th in homeruns and 1st in RBI!
Saturday 5/20/2017: Milwaukee has no chance in a 2-hitter by Tyler Skaggs
MILWAUKEE - Miami's left-hander Tyler Skaggs will never forget this day. The 25-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 2-hitter, against Milwaukee on Saturday. 'Well, the ball went where I wanted it. I was able to hit the corners with all of my pitches.' Skaggs (4-5) was overpowering, fanning 11 while walking none, throwing 102 pitches. Miami's catcher Gary Sanchez stroked 3 hits in 5 AB, homering once, scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 runs. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Skaggs. Miami improved its record to 10-36, scoring 8 runs on 9 hits.
Thursday 5/18/2017: David Pauley out for 8 weeks
SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco's right-hander David Pauley suffered a severe injury on Thursday and will be out for at least 8 weeks. In the 9th of the game against Chicago (N) he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Pulled Tricep Muscle. Surgery will be performed next week. This season Pauley compiled an ERA of 17.18, going 0-1 in 0 starts. He fanned 2 while giving up 7 hits in 3.2 innings.
Thursday 5/18/2017: Cleveland's Wacha out for 6 weeks
CLEVELAND - Cleveland's right-hander Michael Wacha suffered a severe injury on Thursday and will be out for at least 6 weeks. In the 5th of the game against Houston he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. After being taken to a local hospital, Wacha was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Bone Chips Elbow. In 7 starts this year Michael struck out 24 batters in 27.2 innings of work. His ERA is 12.04, his record 0-4.
