Just like last season, I need help (and want to gift points):
Can someone go to baseball-reference.com and calculate the MLB-wide total statistics for:
At Bats Hits Doubles Triples Home Runs Hit By Pitches Strikeouts
You will have to add up AL AND NL stats and in order to do so. To get the best sample, please average the 1962 and 1963 seasons for each statistic. Meaning if there are 20,000 hits in 1962, 21,000 hits in 1963, you will be giving me 20,500 as the number to shoot for in the game. I need new numbers so that the simulation runs reasonably realistic this season.
First to post gets 10 points Additional post to verify and confirm first poster's numbers gets 5 points
Again, Shale, please refrain---you help too much already!

And I say that not knowing exactly what you are changing. But if there is a setting for say, each talent category, and to get the results you want, you have to change the Hits rating for the league from 5 to 8 (again, no idea how this is done), that is something I'd like to know, b/c it will affect how my guys sim. Maybe a quick list in the future of any "significant" adjustments? Am I out of line? -1 for me?

Maybe a quick list in the future of any "significant" adjustments? Am I out of line? -1 for me? I see your point. I could literally just say, check what numbers Adam gave out and you'll see the difference. To quickly summarize the differences from the last couple seasons to this season, Doubles are going down very slightly, Home Runs are going up a bit (8%), walks are going down very slightly and strikeouts are going up a little bit as well (5%). Because there are global statistics, the ratings more or less do not matter, although we do make an attempt to try to link them and that is the proper thing to do. Off the top of my head, I couldn't tell you of significant adjustments, other than to say they will match up with real life data. We are rolling into a pitcher-friendly era for now and will until about 1968. There will be a bump in batting numbers briefly after the next round of expansion (as should be expected) but we will not see a big increase in doubles, home runs, etc. until the mid 1990s with some bumps around 1987 and a huge long-lasting bump in 1994-2004 Check this out: www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/MLB/bat.shtml
