I thought this was a league to test your mettle as an OOTP5 GM, not a league where those of us without jobs or lives post every 5 seconds in order to get reward points to get positive PD's. This is EXACTLY why I've always been against rewards systems. It's idiotic. You're all free to add to your post totals now in 3, 2, 1.............

Mindless drivel is dumb. Board activity is fine. Someone having a better team than someone else because they act like a 5 year old? Also dumb. Trade blocks, trades, extensions, sports conversation, articles, draft conversations...........love all that shit. One sentence posts to generate numbers. Idiotic.

I agree with Cubs..... maybe not get rid of it. but make a limit to how many points can be attained. maybe like 2 a season.
Board activity is great but there are people who post 5 words a post 3 or 4 posts in a row just for the sake of post count and its obvious thats what it is because in other leagues where this award doesnt exist. It doesnt happen.
And saying Cubs is saying this only because he is against board activity is funny.....one shouldnt need a reward to post on the boards and enjoy a league they are in for fun.
Side note...as much as you post spencer....I dont consider you a blatant post padder. A lot of your posts are valid. You're just on the boards a lot.

And from a parental standpoint............which I'm sure you all want to hear........I have no idea how old you are Shale, I've never played in a league with you to the best of my knowledge, but if my kid didn't have a job and I found out he was posting on a message board all day.................Call me Republican, but the only people who can't find jobs are the people who aren't looking very hard. Stepping down off my soap box now.

Look the reason that there are rewards for number of posts is because posting shows that you care about this league and that you are noticeably active. What better way to determine if someone is active than to notice if they post much and contribute to the overall discussion? Do some of the repeated posts by some people in the same threads look annoying to others? Maybe. But I for one only do that shit when I'm really bored. I mean people get bored and they might do unusual shit when they're bored just because posting gives me something to do. It's as simple as that.
And what the fuck is with this "no life" shit? I can't fuckin stand it when anyone says that someone "doesn't have a life" if they aren't living up to another person's standards. That's some bullshit for real. The only people that don't have a life are the ones that are fuckin dead. Nothing personal to the Cubbies, but goddamn it lights a fire in my head whenever I hear or see someone say that.

Agreed.
I shouldn't have to wade through 10 pages of posts made in two hours like I did the other day. And people shouldn't get points for typing one sentence, hitting enter, typing another sentence, hitting enter, and so on and so forth.
The answer is to cap it, per season, at something like 3 points. If people are posting more than that, they aren't doing it in a way that is helping the league.

Being active for the sake of being active, ie, having a 10 page thread of name calling that has nothing to do with the actual league, is NOT what the reward points are all about. Honestly, I'd be fine with doing away with them all together. If you want points, write an article. Better your team so they can win you some. Volunteer to help with the draft. But what I had to read yesterday, or whenever, that fact that people will get points for that crap is nonsense.

Shale, nothing was pointed at any one person in particular, you just happened to show up. If any person is on here 24/7 posting one sentence posts all day long, then in my mind, yes, they aren't exactly the most productive part of our society, hence, no life. Maybe it's the life they choose............whatever. The only point I was trying to make is that it's bullshit that people are doing this one sentence per post garbage in an effort to raise their post totals. I can't even tell you that I know what the reward is for a bunch of posts, but I'll never get the points that others do because a)I don't have time to do that stupid shit and b)it's stupid. If I can't compete to the same level as people who are posting non stop one sentence drivel, then I'm not super interested in playing in that type of league.

I like the idea of capping post points per season.
How about 10 points? (effectively 1000 posts for me and 500 posts for everyone else) per season? Still easy to attain.
As a point in comparison, in BBSBL, some post pads required 1,000 posts in a weekend.

I just realized my rule for position players isn't very enforceable. Maybe upon violation, they are set to .800 Fielding Percentage, E Range, E Arm?

5.
250 posts per season seems like a lot for this group of guys. Maybe a bonus of 1 for every 1000?

People can be active and have fun in a league but rarely post. incentives only make it harder on the guys who are not actively posting.
