Cubs trade SP-Tom Cheney and OF-J. Hall (A) to the Cardinals in exchange for RP-Al Jackson and 1B/OF-Mike Fiore (A)
We did not intend on bringing Cheney back after this year despite the fact that he's been an innings horse for us. We have a lot of up and coming young arms we need to clear space for and I really wanted to move him and make sure I got something for him. Was a little tentative to move him this early as we're actually playing well, but I know we're still a few years from competing for the division and I honestly think I have an arm or two that I can plug in and get similar numbers from. We've been looking for a 2nd bullpen lefty and Jackson fits that bill. I've asked about him numerous times in the past, so we'll see if the change of scenery does him any good. We finally gave up on Jimmie Hall after making him our 2nd round pick (22) in 56. He's now 25 and still hasn't shown the ability to hit AA pitching. The talent is there but I don't see him ever developing enough to play in the bigs. Thanks for the always easy negotiations Matt.

Chris,
Please change my rotation to a 4 man rotation for this up coming sim and re-order them 1-Yoneda 2-Barclay 3-Flanigan 4-Shaw with Yoneda starting the next game, strict order.
I'll take care of the other roster moves after the sim.
Thanks!

Agreed.
Jackson has struggled his time in St Louis...and I figured as soon as I asked about Cheney, he'd be the guy on the way to Chicago.
Hopefully Hall catches a PD somewhere along the way to improve, if not I might eventually have some points to spend.
Place Cheney in my bullpen in Jackson's place for now. I'll fix it after the next sim!
Thanks and (gulp) good luck to the Cubs!
