General Notes
Teams may utilize the Trade Block board to post their needs or who they are interested in moving. Teams may trade players, draft picks, in-game cash and on-board points. The Commissioner will process the trades prior to the following regular season sim, provided that BOTH teams have confirmed said trade and associated roster moves.
Trade Deadlines
The non-waiver trade deadline is July 31st. While not a feature in OOTP5, the waiver-wire trade deadline is prior to the start of the playoffs. During this time, players with a major league contract (300k or more, or otherwise not on a minor league contract (MLC)) must be sent through and clear waivers before they are able to be traded. Players with minor league contracts (MLC) may be traded without having to clear waivers. Trading is not permitted after the start of the playoffs until AFTER the File Flip.
Draft Pick Trading
Draft picks may be traded for the current and upcoming draft only. For example, prior to and during the 1960 draft, teams may trade 1960 and 1961 draft picks. Upon completion of the 1960 draft, only 1961 draft picks may be traded. Only picks in the first, second and third rounds may be traded.
Trade Limitations
During the non-waiver trading period, trades in which there is only one (1) team trading players are prohibited. Teams must either trade no players at all (draft picks, in-game cash and on-board points) or each team must trade at least one (1) player. Waiver trades may feature one (1) player from just one (1) team.
Players signed during the off-season Free Agency period may not be traded until June 1st. Players drafted in the amateur draft or signed as an in-season free agent may be traded with no restrictions.
A maximum of 10M in cash may be traded for each season.
- Note: This rule pertains to the maximum amount of cash that can be ACQUIRED IN TOTAL over the course of a season. You can trade some away and then decide later to acquire more. That is fine. This will prevent spending teams from continuously spending more than their baseline finances will allow.
- Note: This rule does NOT pertain to the amount of cash that can be sent. This will allow for rebuilding teams to acquire more assets.
- Purpose: To force teams spending beyond their means to keep it somewhat in check
Trades will NOT be judged for fairness or be vetoed UNLESS OBVIOUS COLLUSION IS DEEMED TO BE IN PLAY BY THE COMMISSIONER.
