Bob Gibson.
What year for him? I know you mentioned possible ratings in a PM somewhere, but what were they again?
Thanks!
Other possibilities:
Lou Brock Ozzie Smith Albert Pujols

Gibson and Pujols would be nuts. AP probably rates out better than any hitter the game will see going forward. Sheesh.

Miguel Cabrera might rate pretty close to Pujols.

Matt would have to keep Gibson for his entire career to have a chance at reserving Pujols.

Which is a cool wrinkle.

Matt would have to keep Gibson for his entire career to have a chance at reserving Pujols. That's the plan anyway

Miguel Cabrera might rate pretty close to Pujols. Cabrera's crappy defence does help keep the price down a bit though. But nothing a DH spot can't solve.

Pujols has the potential to be the most expensive player in this system. Apart from his actual value, the system also heavily favours players picked early in history as their draft day jump cost can never get too high. Now the penalty one can incur for moving up from the bottom to the top is 15 points as there are only 16 teams in the league, whereas in the 2000s it'll be 29 points as there are 30 teams. So even if you get the same quality of player, you will likely pay more for him if you draft / reserve him in the 50s than in the 90s.

Probably 113 points, but I won't know until I finalize the pool.
