So one recent morning in the shower...I had a thought:
With 2 new teams coming into each league, we'll have 12 in each league and technically able to have 3 4-team divisions in each league. This would also allow us to have a 3rd division winner and a wild card team enter the playoffs as early as 1969.
I would suggest the following alignment:
AL East Baltimore Boston New York Washington
AL Central Chicago (A) Cleveland Detroit Kansas City
AL West California Oakland Minnesota Seattle (Pilots)
NL East Atlanta Montreal New York (N) Philadelphia
NL Central Chicago (N) Cincinnati Pittsburgh St. Louis
NL West Los Angeles (N) Houston San Diego San Francisco
In 1972, after Seattle has been in Milwaukee for a couple seasons and Washington moves to Dallas, I would suggest, for the AL:
AL East Baltimore Boston Cleveland New York
AL Central Chicago (A) Detroit Kansas City Milwaukee
AL West California Minnesota Oakland Texas
In 1977, when we add the Blue Jays and Mariners, I would suggest, for the AL:
AL East Baltimore Boston Cleveland New York Toronto
AL Central Chicago (A) Detroit Kansas City Milwaukee Minnesota
AL West California Oakland Seattle Texas

I'd vote 1977...no reason to rush it but a little early is fine

With the disinterest this league already has, the complaining about the same teams winning, I think this is a "best interest of the league" decision, and it needs to happen. It'll keep things more interesting, longer each season, for more teams. Or it should. We already have owners that basically set their OD roster, and don't do much the rest of the year. Expanding the playoffs should help with that, some.

Is there really disinterest? I love this league. How many teams don't participate really?

I wouldnt call it disinterest....but I could have told you the results of this poll before one vote was even cast...of course non playoff teams want more divisions.

I had 101 wins last season and was done at the end of the season. Having the wild card, I'll take my shot in the playoffs with Gibson and Kaiser pitching at least 4 games a series for me. All it does is open up 4 more teams playing for something. Competition creates bigger interest overall.

Yep. Zero reason for me to be for this on a personal level. It probably hurts my team, or at the very least, doesn't help it at all. But I want to see more interest in this league, and I think this is the easiest way to accomplish that.

I'm abstaining for obvious reasons but so far it's 10-4 in favor with 5 votes remaining.

I vote NO explicitly because you are placing me in the Detroit's division. Or, can I stay with Baltimore if Detroit moves from the east???

Sorry for the "disinterest", with the beginning of the semester and two of my three conferences all occurring between 8/15 and 10/5, this is my busy time of the year and I missed that the poll even existed.
