Thank you for voting. Despite 1950 being favored 6 to 5, I was more convinced by the reasons given to start in 1953 and I like the idea of having a 60th anniversary restart.
For the next week or so, I am going to tinker with the GamboSpritzeOOTP14v2 and lahman2012 database to get a working file. Once I have the raw file ready, I may share it for tickle your fancies. Aside from the initial import, I need to run test seasons to make sure the amateur draft imports are consistent and the statistical output is reasonable. I also need to work on stadium and weather data, but I have all that information.
Later this month, I hope to have the actual website up in order to host the file and leaguesite pages; my wife wants to start a family/book blog herself, so we can utilize the same server space for a couple domains.

lol sowwy.
I have to tell you guys, the test roster import went GREAT. The stats seem correct and the ratings, at first glance, are pretty reasonable. I have to change a couple settings on my formal import attempt, but after that, I actually think a league file will be ready for sharing by next weekend. If I don't have the website/ftp ready, I will probably share the file via DropBox or Google Drive.
Keep in mind that the file will still be very raw, which will lead us to our favorite, and probably the most important, part...GRIPES. I want this file to be TIGHT, so the initial GRIPE period will be at least a month long to ensure each team, if not every player, is looked at carefully.
For example: One thing I did notice is that the pitchers' potential talent rating in HR seems high (almost 50% of the league is "Good"). Fortunately, there is an easy way to make a league-wide potential talent rating decrease all at once. All I would have to do is export ratings to csv, open it up in Excel, change all talent ratings in HR from 5 (Brilliant) to 4 (Good) and so on and so forth. Import it back into OOTP5 and viola, it's done. It'll then be easier to work back to determining who should have Good and Brilliant ratings in HR.
