The Northwest is rejoicing as professional baseball is on its way to Seattle for the 1969 season. Darryl Lierman, former majority owner of the Atlanta Braves, has been awarded an AL expansions franchise that will begin play this upcoming season at Sick' Stadium. Sick's is the former long time home of the popular PCL Seattle Rainers and will only serve as temporary home for the Pilots until their new doomed stadium opens. New owner Lierman seemed quite enthused with the prospects of success for his new franchise. "We are the only professional game in this part of the country and I foresee us having a long, illustrious run in Seattle." Getting a franchise may have been the easy part of this projects as in the coming weeks and months 2 major projects stand in front of the Pilots. 1) The expansion of Sick's Stadium to a 30,000 seat venue as ordered by Major league baseball. 2) The crucial expansion draft to surround young talents like Jerry Reuss and Jim Kern with major league ready talent and ease their transitions into the pros.

I'm sure it's a typo, but baseballs fans are superstitious. Lol.
