If you're only counting a static number and not rates there's the problem.

His career walk rate is 2.4/9ip which is borderline elite.

In comparison Sandy Koufax had a walk rate of 3.2 which is way worse.

All time control great Greg Maddux had a walk rate of 1.8 so 2.4 is closer to Maddux than Koufax. He deserves brilliant walks.

Static Numbers are very misleading rates are a way better way to judge.

JR deserves brilliant Homers. 0.4HR/9 is as elite as it gets.

JR Richard gave up less HR/9 than any active pitcher in baseball today. That means nobody pitching today deserves brilliant Homers.

By your own rating.

My bad for posting facts though some people can't get over the fact I have as much right as anyone to gripe the class.

It's really not that hard to understand. There is a chart for ratings linked at the top of the site. Here: www.hoffbl.com/ratingschart.jpgA simple venture out to Bert's baseball reference page (here - www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/blylebe01.shtml ) shows that he averaged 65 walks per 162 games (a season). Go back to the chart, and that falls right on the edge of Average/Good, and is nowhere near Brilliant. I don't really care if you disagree with the philosophy behind how the ratings are done, but to constantly show up and act like you can't figure why guys are getting certain ratings given the system we have in place is just dumb. It hasn't changed. A monkey could calculate what the ratings should be based on our system.

If I constantly find FACTS that dispute why the rating system isn't flawed there is a problem.

I've presented FACTS. You're giving an OPINION. I shouldn't have to explain the difference.

If this was the 1500s jeremy would most definitely believe the world flat. Nothing new can ever be better or more correct than something old!

Suggesting bert blyleven should be rated almost identically to dick Tidrow makes this system obviously flawed.

Not sure who's doing what in this class, but with the pitchers, you have to remember the chart is set to PER 550 AB's. Blyleven gave up 38.8 walks per 550 AB's, which is the very best of the GOOD rating. Technically, 30 BB/550 AB's is BR. That being said, if there was evidence to prove that in a good number, perhaps majority of Blyleven's seasons that he averaged less than 30BB/550 AB's, an argument could be made that he deserves BR, especially with a weak class.

JR Richard gave up 6.9 HR/550 AB's, which is also right smack dab in the middle of BRILLIANT. If you are using the ratings with innings for the pitchers, it's not how the chart is set up and everything is going to end up screwed up.

Also, Richards averaged 73 BB/550 AB's, which should be AVG, not FAIR, 18.8 doubles which should be GOOD, nearly BR. Richards should be BR/G/BR/AVG and either G or BR in K's. He was 2 K's/550 AB's away from being BR according to the charts.
