Thursday 4/21/1970: Charley Smith punishes Milwaukee with three dingers
MILWAUKEE - Hitting homeruns is one of the most difficult things in sports. To hit three of them in one game is almost sensational. Baltimore's second baseman Charley Smith accomplished that feat in a 11-6 win over Milwaukee. A pitch from Dennis Bennett in the 1st inning left his bat for a three-run homerun, landing 447 feet from home plate in center field. A 393 foot drive to left field marked his 2nd bomb, a solo homerun off Dennis Bennett in the 4th inning. His 3rd blast, a solo homerun off Al Neiger in the 6th inning, landed an estimated 379 feet from home plate. Overall he finished with 3 hits in 5 AB, scoring three runs and driving in 5 runs. Baltimore improved its record to 8-11, scoring 11 runs on 12 hits.

Wednesday 4/20/1970: Milwaukee's Priddy out for full season
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee's right-hander Bob Priddy experienced probably the worst case scenario for a pitcher, a season ending injury. After pitching in the 5th inning of the game against Chicago (A), Priddy complained about serious pain in his throwing arm. He had to leave the game. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Torn Rotator Cuff Muscle. Surgery will be performed next week. Bob has a record of 0-3 this season, with an ERA of 4.33. In 27 Innings he was able to strike out 19 batters.

Team trainers immediately rushed onto the field after the frightening scene. Jenkins will miss about 4 weeks. After being taken to a local hospital, Jenkins was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Broken Finger. In 4 starts this year Fergie struck out 34 batters in 26 innings of work. His ERA is 2.42, his record 1-1.
